I snagged a couple of packs last Friday at Dollar General because we genuinely needed it. Stopped in Dollar Tree today on the way back from picking something up at the office and grabbed 2 4-packs. Didn't need it, but I hate to think I went through the entire pandemic without participating in the uniquely American tradition of hoarding at some point.

But, what I bought was Scott Tissue, so it's not a store brand. So maybe he'll be OK. If you'd like to apply as my sniffing butler, I'll send you a Zoom link to interview.

I got burned on the hoarding craze myself.....
Apr 22, 2020, 4:07 PM
|
|
I had overbought (for me) frozen food/meat because of the stay-home hysteria. Actually not brazen hoarding but had a few extra pounds of beef/pork/chicken and extra gallon of milk that I would just normally grab as needed on the way home from work when plentiful.
Well.....then the tornado knocked out my power for 4 days.
I coulda grilled it all for one massive feast (crossed my mind), but there was no way to eat and/or save all of it even cooked.
So I had to scrounge up every cooler I owned and go on an ice-buying spree to try and save all this freezer/fridge stuff. Alas, the ONE moment in my life I could have actually used a $700 Yeti cooler. ">
But I made it OK, was able to salvage everything but a half-eaten carton of ice cream. Cost me about $25 worth of ice though.
Lesson learned. Only keep what you need.

bags of TP (eight rolls in a bag) - so I grab a bag when I happen to go in. Last week it was Angel Soft, which I like - strong enough to wipe, thin enough that it probably will dissolve in the sewer pipe. This week, it's Sysco - those will be emergency rolls cause I know they probably suck...

Can confirm this. Today between Sam's and Publix
Apr 22, 2020, 7:01 PM
|
|
ZERO ROLLS OF TP or paper towels. ### is wrong with people. If you want to wipe your ###, your choices are Kleenex or table napkins. But overall Publix was much better stocked than in past weeks. But there are some items that are just gone every time. Dawn dish soap. TP. Paper towels. Bleach. Clorox bathrom cleaner. GONE. Sam's is the first place I've seen that had Tylenol btw.
But you can buy all the junk food you need now.

and finding everything I need more often than not. Most everything you mention.
You see, Sam's and Publix are frequented by folks with means, and more importantly, large homes, aka storage spaces. People who live in apartments and small homes don't have ROOM to hoard, much less the money. The Karens go to Publix, Sams, Target, and don't hesitate throwing their AmEX Black card at "stock supplies". Those who shop at the DG ain't buying $50 worth of paper products. And they won't bite you if you go in there, I promise.
The DG I went in today had 4 or 5 different brands of TP on the shelf.

But we're ok on everything right now. We have one more house cleaning worth of Clorox wipes. Could use some hand sanitizer. TP we're stocked, that goodness. Paper towels, we have a month left.
Every place was 95% stocked I guess. Publix looked bad for several weeks though. Like ransacked.

now. With no females in the house TP lasts for ####### ever. I think I had about 7 rolls then, and still have 4 or 5 left. Plus, I'm a one-poop-a-day guy, early in the morning after coffee. And I always have a pack of baby wipes in the bathroom. About 2 times with TP and then a wash with a wipe that goes into a separate trash can. Clean as a pin. And I don't have to constantly wipe down door handles and light switches. I'm the only one touching em.
TL/DR: smother your family in their sleep. And don't let any of the females escape. #winning
