Clemson's appeal is the family aspect, so I definitely wouldn't want a bunch of randoms showing up to my house for a party then I never see them again.

we are using it. just have not got the few guys we did recruit. clemson will never be heavy in the portal thank god. i do not see it as a way to build a program. those doing it will crash to earth imo. yhat being said nothing wrong with picking up choice guys at positions of need. hey if you love the portal go pull for the coots. they seem to be good at it. how is it working out for them.

I’m as devoted as a Clemson fan I could be but, given we have done nothing to improve the talent on the offensive line and development of wideouts, and the lack of depth at some positions on defense that could’ve been addressed with experienced transfers, I’m capping us at 10-2

NC State just got Grayson McCall and a very good RB (Waters) from Duke. Does NC State have more resources than Clemson? Is Dave Doeren more charismatic and a better recruiter than Dabo? lol
If freaking Ole Miss can dominate the transfer portal, there's no reason why Clemson can't snag 2 or 3 players. You can't tell me that Ole Miss has THAT much more NIL money than Clemson.
The scholarship thing is also completely bogus. That's 100% a choice by the coaching staff. If they wanted to they could absolutely prioritize holding back a few scholarships for portal usage. They've chosen not to do so.

If FSU didn't have Coleman, we beat them last year.
If teams with key portal players used to beat us can't convince this crowd, then nothing will.
I am convinced that the pumpers don't care if we go 7-5, 8-4, or have the 50th-ranked offense for 4 years in a row, as long as Dabo utters the words "Best to Come", they happy.
Ignore the complete lapse in roster management all you want but don't expect to win the ACC without having a recent backup DE.

Not a single one of those guys would be on scholarship at UGA/Bama/Ohio St/Michigan. That is the level we were playing on and people actually wonder why we’ve fallen off.
That’s bc almost 25% of our roster should be on scholarship at App St and Coastal Carolina.

That list is ridiculous.
First off, some of those young players are going to be very good. Second, every team needs scout team players. Third, every team has some busts.
Cole Turner will be a freshman again next year. A guy who has been in the program two years, is one of the fastest players on the team and was the star of ACC Championship Game a year ago. I am not sure who we would get with more potential than Haynes. Adams or Green that will be willing to sit behind Mafah. Little ETN was not coming to Clemson to sit behind Mafah. Cade Denoff is a solid player who has been in the program 4 years. DE is thin from a depth perspective but we should run off a player who has been productive at the position? Gunn was the Freshman All America kick off specialist. We tend to focus on his FG struggles but he was very productive kicking off. I can’t imagine Jack Smith is on scholarship.
The reality is we have some players who have not lived up to their recruiting ranking and won’t see the field at Clemson, but that list is short.

The point the poster is trying to make is that we have slowly but surely replaced great players with mid-tier players since 2020. Many of us have been sounding the alarms, for a while now but everything is ok in pumperville.
Now about 20% of our roster is dead weight, making us unable to upgrade using the portal even if we wanted too.

What have you been watching the past 3-4 years....WE lost to Duke for Christ sake...who had, you guessed it,...portal players! Wake up man! Swinney had to pick the pockets of App St literally 24 hours before signing day to fill out three scholarship spots... Dabo has been left completely behind...

It totally depends on the need, the teams that are going all in on the Portal strictly rely on the portal every year to fill the majority of the entire team. We've done pretty well keeping our main starters for multiple years and most guys aren't transferring just for depth. Sure we could use a guy like Caleb Downs and come in right away and start, but we aren't getting into any bidding wars over the star players either. We are what we are, recruiting reliant only and hope they pan out like previous years.

I remember the Coach Charlie Pell years I was coaching high school football very close to the Clemson area alumni were buying players parents washing machines and dryers, cars, tractors etc! That’s what the portal reminds of! So instead of buy tickets and joining IPTAY send your money to the players that want money to play at Clemson! I have four coot friends have invested a million into helping the coots get players out of the portal!

Unless folks on TNET are ponying up $100's of thousands of dollars, then you don't have any business complaining about how Dabo spends whatever NIL resource funds he has access to.
Elite players come to Clemson bc of the culture Dabo has built. And we've heard they're "competitive" in NIL according to recruits families who've been interviewed.
