Today (day 14 ) I had my power restored and I’m as giddy as a toddler on Christmas Day! My neighbors and I are all celebrating! My prayers go out to all those who were tragically affected by Helene and who will never have “restoration “ for the losses they have had and will feel for the rest of their lives. May they find comfort in their families, friends, churches.
In the face of this disaster it’s hard to think of positives but I am thrilled to say that I know all the neighbors on my street on a first name basis and look forward to growing new friendships. Also it has been and will continue to be a blessing to see and receive the many contributions of donations, gifts and heartfelt kindnesses.
Finally if you have helped those affected by this disaster, THANK YOU! There are still many in need as there are also many in Florida today and going forward.

And, like you, I was happy to get to know my street neighbors better as we pulled together to get a major fallen tree removed that was blocking our street. I have been on that street 25 years and didn't know the first names of several of them before 09/27/24. I had waved at them but didn't know them.

Yes, same here. It all began with a group effort to remove a tree blocking one end of our road. I believe I will be giving myself an electric chain saw for Christmas. If not before!

If the power is out, a electric chainsaw is useless, and battery powered one will be useless when the battery goes dead, and you don't have electricity to recharge. Gift yourself a gas powered chainsaw, but also gift yourself a gas line replacement kit

True but without water for weeks, it can evaporate and burn up the HW Heater.
