The more we can keep you folks talking about the dangers of black communities protesting, the less we have to hear about trickle-down economics and the disasters associated with COVID relief

Other considerations - Camden has fewer citizens than

in the 1970s.
More importantly, keep in mind that while they "disbanded" the police force, they ended up putting many more police on the streets.
https://www.governing.com/archive/gov-camden-disbands-police-force-for-new-department.html
"With those savings, the department, which has since unionized, hired scores of new officers while keeping overall costs about the same. An analysis of police employment data indicates that in the course of a year, Camden has gone from a bare-bones force to having at or near the highest police presence of any larger U.S. city on a per capita basis. By the time the force is fully staffed, which the county expects will be later this summer, Camden will have 411 full-time sworn officers, or about 53 for every 10,000 residents. Cities of populations exceeding 50,000 employed an average of 17 officers per 10,000 residents in the most recent 2012 data reported to the FBI. Only Washington, D.C., recorded a higher tally that year – about 61 officers per 10,000 residents – than Camden will once its new force is fully up and running."
So is this what the advocates of "dismantling the police force" are really saying? We need MORE police on the streets? I haven't heard that particular chant in the streets.
WHAT DO WE WANT!?! MOOOOOORE COPS! WHEN DO WE WANT THEM!?! NOW!!!

Eh. You could make that argument...then again, Camden

has been run by Democrats since before WW2, so a bloated, corrupt organization being held up by a union in a long-time Democrat stronghold is a tune I think we all can hum at this point.

And that's sort of the point, though.
It's those entrenched police unions. You can scream and yell about all the other stuff, but when you've got a culture that can't and won't deal with its bad apples, what you get is a police department with a guy like Chauvin who's got 17 complaints in his jacket, and he just casually ends up snuffing a guy on the street and his three other officers - one of whom had five complaints, the other two had none - just sort of sat there and watched - and it was just a day in the life. Just how it was. Portland is seething right now for much the same reasons.
And there is. So. Much. Noise. From Fox. From CNN. From BLM. From angry white people. From social media. It just makes my head hurt. But the real problem isn't really even all that complicated.
We get all hung up on those "R" and "D" labels too much, as opposed to: "what's actually going on here, and how do we fix this thing?"
Camden is an example of someplace that actually blew up the union and cleaned up its backyard.

Do you have a link to the details of the complaints against

the various police officers?
I ask because I have a family member who is a cop, and he got two complaints against him in one night when he ticketed a row of illegally parked cars. One said he only gave him the ticket because of his race (even though he never saw the guy and ticketed the whole row of cars) and another claimed he harassed her (even though she was not even there). None the less, two complaints filed. Probably would have been a problem for him had there not been cameras in the area. And those are only the two he told me about...two in one night that were clearly false, but were none the less filed. So, when you throw around "he has 17 complaints" (which, now that I look him up, it says 18), you have to have context...especially for a nearly 20 year career.
Portland...it is crazy when you have a mayor who uses riots and looting to portray himself as a man of the people and opposed to Trump, what will happen. He's singing a different song now.
But fine, if you want to get rid of unions, let's do it!
