The only tangible thing I’m reading is the “nutritional facilities” which begs the follow-up: why the flip has this not already been done! The cost is a drop in the bucket to feed the basketball team/staff. What’re we talking about - 30 people for players and staff? There are food prep facilities already on site. Caters could already be doing this. If this is what we’ve been missing everyone with any previous oversight of basketball should be dismissed. The more they talk about the basketball program the more depressing it becomes.

For those who have a 3rd grade or higher level of comprehension this list is not new as it’s been posted multiple times on this site

It's not a list. It's a single thing. And I have not once, ever, no matter how many times I've solicited it had any of the Brad Brownell Bros (yourself included) mention that our basketball team has been denied "nutritional facilities" or a proper training table. And rather than thinking this is some kind of flex you should realize how poorly this speaks of the people running the program. This is not expensive and not complicated. It is also an area where actual performance benefits are gained - not just making players happy. It's egregious that this low cost, easily implemented service is the only specific feature that has been named as missing from our program. You can barely follow how a message board thread works and you can't string together coherent thoughts. I'd hold up on insulting levels of education/comprehension. I doubt your Mensa membership is up to date.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh yeah? I’ve never seen it mentioned.

And I agree with Viz, it’s a simple fix. Now is that going to amp up the energy level in LJ and put butts in seats with Brownell as the coach? Hail no.

And why do you always “quote original” when you post? It’s incredibly annoying. You know who else does that a lot? Judge Helen Keller and the weirdo who always types in all caps.

I swear you BBBros alternate spend-the-nights in your mommy’s basements and just stalk tigernet for all things clemson basketball. Losers.

Really glad Clemson is investing a lot in basketball. It already shows the last couple of years. The link I posted at the very bottom shows what public schools in all the major and mid conferences spent as late as 20-21 season.

If you go to the link just put in compare with other schools tab toward the bottom right. You would put in total operating expenses for basketball for 20-21. The fact that during a covid year that Clemson is ranked 37 is saying something. Now it less than the 19-20 year but Clemson climbed from ranked 43 to 35. And look at those schools that are considered having more basketball success than Clemson. Memphis, Purdue, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Kansas State, UNLV. These are schools that havae gone to Final Fours and won Nattys.

A lot of schools also dropped more than Clemson for the Covid year. Schools more known for basketball in the ACC, SEC and nationally.
The fact that Clemson didn't drop as much shows it was important to hold firm on spending money even it had to cut some due to Covid.
I expect these figures to even climb even more for Clemson in 21-22. Brad no longer as the excuse and need to start putting up post season success to what the rankings show.

Soooooo, if we just spend 1.5M more, we’ll be better than UNC, lol.

About whether he has fired anyone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don’t understand why that is relevant.

Apr 15, 2022, 3:59 PM

He’s going to fire someone if he feels that it needs to be done. It’s part of the job.

look at my post above. Clemson didn't drop near as much during a Covid year than a lot of bigger schools known for more basketball success. from what Neff says Clemson is going to climb somewhere in the top 25-30 ranked teams in spending in for this next year. Brad needs to show much more success from what those return numbers are going to indicate...

How does a guy who has never set foot on campus know what Brad needs to do?

You probably don’t understand building a team through investments. Clemson has been at the bottom of the ACC for basically ever. Throwing money at the program and expecting an giant leap is silly. Yes there there needs to be improvement but it will happen over time. Building a program is also not a straight line endeavor . There will be ups and downs although the overall slope needs to remain positive

Derp, I know this is hard for someone with a 3rd grade level of reading comprehension, derp, but the ACC of 2022 has no resemblance to the one that Clemson was at the bottom of for, derp, basically ever. So learn what a false equivalency is and stop using them, derp.

that would automatically bump his pay up to maintain him in the top ?? of all college football coaches? I could have imagined it, at my age, brain cells are kicking ye olde bucket at an ever increasing rate.

That's definitely in Saban's contract, which happened around the same time as Dabo's, and they were talked about a lot side-by-side, so you might be thinking of that.

There is no one who values Coach Swinney more than I do, but let's not portray him as money hungry. Remember, it was not so very long ago that Coach Swinney agreed to a salary that made him the lowest paid head coach in the ACC. By all means, Clemson needs to do what is necessary to keep Dabo at Clemson, and that includes keeping him among the best compensated coaches in America, but he is not Jimbo Fisher. He is not going to jump because someone waves a bit more money in his face.

Neff , how about baseball , and Coach Lee , for me i think u need to look for a new coach , Coach Lee is a small conference coach , NOT a power five coach , go get a power five coach , NOT no small college coach .
Clemson under Coach Lee won 30 games this year , unless they play more Small teams ,
Thank you sir , and we appreciate Mr Neff ,

Neff said a lot to say nothing..???? I like the guy but he’s a not rocking the boat or paddling harder to get there type of guy.

After watching Brads interview the other day, let me be honest, it turns my stomach. If it was my business and I was given a budget to work within I can’t see keeping him if it was my desire to improve on winning.

He makes every excuse in the book from yesterday to tomorrow instead of laying out a vision of how he will succeed.

I could write a page but it’s decided for now. I’m not going to complain about him or or program because he’s our coach and Clemson is my team. I will be 100% all-in but my Opinion is different than Neff’s.

That’s all, let’s go win a National Championship and a final four this next season Tigers!

Re: TNET: Neff addresses Swinney's contract in today's market, Clemson commitment to basketball

Clemson's only commitment to basketball is not to pay what the Administration considers to be excessive money to a former coach. Wins and losses are irrelevant.
