DW4

Dec 1, 2014, 2:41 PM

Does anyone feel that Watson should just go ahead and get the surgery now so he'll be ready for next year sooner than later? Or should he play and take a chance at injuring the ACL or surrounding areas further? I know we have a better chance to win the bowl game with him playing, but I think most of Clemson nation is satisfied with the thrashing of USuC and could care less if we win the bowl or not.

Either way I hope the right decision is made when it's time. GO TIGERS!!!!!

I think the rehab time puts him right in that dead period during summer. He is missing spring either way.

I worry about stressing out the other knee

Dec 1, 2014, 2:50 PM

a ton of athletes blow out their other knee in these types of situations.

happened to Drose but DW didn't look to worried he planted

I want the surgery done yesterday if possible. The bowl game is a bonus, not a requirement. No need to have DW get hurt any more than he is right now. The sooner he gets his surgery the faster he is back getting into a rhythm with his new O-line and WR's.

Only way he would play for me is if it was a playoff game.

He needs to play the bowl game. You can't further injure an ACL. He misses spring either way. He should play.

No, but you could

Dec 1, 2014, 2:51 PM

conceivably hurt other ligaments in the knee, and tear meniscus, etc.

naw, dabo and the docs said he was good to play. if they operate now he still will not be back for spring practice. if he did not risk injury Saturday why worry about what happens in the bowl game. bowl game victories help recruiting! now if that is not the case, well someone should have some explaining to do.

I want double digit wins.

True, but in reality that would have the same heal time with

the ACL repair. He will have a brace that will protect the lateral movement in the knee, thus, becoming his ACL.

If he further injures himself, he would've done it anyway on a healthy knee.

Cole @ Beach Cole w/ Clemson Hat

If sooner is better, go ahead and do it now.

Dec 1, 2014, 3:16 PM

Who cares about the bowl game?

Re: If sooner is better, go ahead and do it now.

because a bowl game gives the coaches another month of practice with the team, almost like another or additional spring practice. also gives the university more publicity and the football program more exposure. and helps with recruiting for the future, so yes that is why bowl games are important. just because it is not the orange bowl, the players still get the reward for a good season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fair point, but count 6 months from now...

Dec 1, 2014, 9:31 PM

That's may of next year. 6 months from a bowl game is June. That's only 2-3 months from first game. Just makes me nervous to assume the best healing timeframe in order to get him fully back for next season. Why risk next year? We could still win the bowl with Scott in the wildcat....:)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't boo me out of the stadium, but....

Dec 1, 2014, 3:35 PM

I'd love to see DW just go ahead and get that surgery and get to healing quicker. The longer he has to heal and gain confidence on the healed knee, the better.
I think most of Clemson nation feels like we just won our bigger-of-the-two games by beating USuCk.
Start Cole and give him his last game as a Tiger...win or lose.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Having said that.....knowing what we know about DW, he probably wouldn't go for that. That kid is a warrior..he wants to play and win. I think these next few years are going to be FUN. GO TIGERS!

id take him healing faster..

Dec 1, 2014, 9:36 PM

go ahead and get the surgery..lets face it this season beating usuc was the high point.a bowl game win is really irrelevant seeings we get paid if we win or lose..id rather have watson at 100 percent next august than winning a meaningless bowl game

If I answer this question, do I get me a free bag of peanuts?

All I got to say is if DW gets the surgery now, go ahead and prep the h3ll out of Shuess, Olsen, and perhaps Scott, for QB. Think it'll be wildcats and jet sweeps galore w/ DW gone.

Really going to be painful watching DW play with a more

Dec 2, 2014, 6:32 AM

serious problem than we knew during the Coot game. But it is his life and hopefully he is following doctors instructions. I don't think anyone should be encouraging him to play. Just let him make up his own mind on what he wants to do. I am sure he feels a lot of pressure to play because some rotten fans will call him "soft" if he doesn't play. He proved his metal in the Coot game
