Clemson has played in two national championship games in a row. We have won our conference championship three years in a row. We are the current national champions, we are currently ranked #1, playing in the College Football Playoff for the third year in a row.
Which of those accomplishments has Arkansas achieved in the modern era? What possibly makes leaving Clemson for Arkansas a lateral move? It would be a self-imposed demotion of such magnitude as to indicate that Venables had lost his ever lovin’ mind.

They are as bad as chicken fans about believing that every coach and player on the planet is drooling to be a part of "the" SEC. They also still believe that whoever wins the conference has done so by beating the very best competition there is.

Was Clemson even a lateral move from Oklahoma in 2013?
At that point, Dabo was 29-19 as a head coach. We had just won our first conference championship in 20 years.
Oklahoma had a Hall-of-Fame coach with 8 conference titles and a national championship under his belt.

but I think it is important to remember that BV was expected to begin sharing DC duties with Mike Stoops - after Venables was their DC by himself for a while leading up to that. So it was actually a “promotion” of sorts to come to Clemson and have the DC duties to himself.
