Duke look good as much as it makes the ACC look bad, IMHO.

the difference is Clemson would have to play good teams to with the bball tourney... in football , Duke beat nobody in the ACC..Don't tell me Miami is good

The ACC doesn't yet have the credibility to have this scenario not hurt us.
IMHO, this is a pivotal point for all conferences. I'd prefer Duke to have lost today and have a program with some recent success like Miami or VT play. Nice story, but I don't think it will help the ACC.

Nah Duke played their butts off. They arent world beaters but they are a scrappy hard nosed team. They deserve it.

have to agree with the original poster
sure its a nice story for duke since they have been a doormat for decades but they will lose by 30+ to fsu..clemson would also easily handle duke..the level of athlete isnt even close
if they bring all 500 of their fans the stadium may be half full for the acccg..
just because they earned their way in by winning 10 games doesnt mean its good for the acc..this is why our conference is a joke to the rest of the country..
the fact that miami and va tech cant take care of the coastal when its this bad says more about how far they have fallen than it does about how good duke is

But it is no slam on how well Duke has improved or anything. It is a great story in college football.
But Duke is there because VT, GT, and Miami have miserably failed.

disappointing that a group of kids bought in to what their coach was preaching and played great inspired football all season and earned their spot.this is why the sec hype machine exists.espn bases teams on name and not what they do on the field.

Ratings for the game will suck, which will effect future contracts. Nobody wants to watch Duke football.
Also, with regard to whether they deserve it or not, if Duke beats gives FSU half a game, and beats a quality opponent in a bowl game, I'll eat my words.

They earned it on the field. I'm just disappointed from a selfish point of view as a Clemson fan. I want the ACC to look good, and in order for that to happen it would help if the ACC championship game is even halfway relevant.

Vandy, who barely won (I'm not a computer so I can look at margin of victory), would NOT fair so well against ACC play as the coots have often proclaimed if they have to squeak by WF in their own house.

The bottom line is that the SEC and Big 10 championship games will be highly anticipated featuring top 10 teams. They will be watched many. Duke will be 28 point underdogs.
The lasting impression will be that the ACC is FSU and no one else.
