DraftKings just released this Update on HC Openings

Nov 21, 2021, 2:43 PM

Surmise away ... as some Tnetters have noted, after universities take their best shots at Kiffin, Aranda and others, what other jobs will open on the merry-go-round including possibly Ole Miss and Baylor?

If anybody in college believes what we're told all the time about how good a coach that TE is, this is the year that somebody should come after him really hard. My bet is that it won't happen!!!

His O, decimated by injuries, just managed to somehow hang 48 points on the #10 team in the country.

The only factor which will keep T.Elliott out of 'big job' college football HC coach considerations is politics.

Clemson is not the only major football power which possesses a large number of semi (let's be nice here) 'uninformed' fans and boosters. LSU, Florida, (who knows maybe Auburn and Texas?) have their idiot big money boosters.

With Clemson's performance on O being poor this year, the other 'big programs' are not likely to hire T.Elliott as HC ... even if their ADs know better than their boosters that Clemson's O problems do not accurately reflect on T.Elliott's abilities as a coach.

Syracuse scored 37. Army scored 56. Their D might be part

of the reason for 48, although the offense did play better!

I don't know if Elliott will land a HC job this year, but I am confident he will interview for several. (Choose from this list: VT, Wake, Ole Miss, Baylor. Probably won't interview at Florida, LSU.) As the carousel spins, you will see his name mentioned quite often.

My thoughts guys on Elliott as a HC..

Nov 21, 2021, 4:32 PM [ in reply to Re: DraftKings just released this Update on HC Openings ]

We all know he's interviewed and received interest for multiple jobs now to no avail. TE seems like he wants a top job and I don't blame him but not sure he is a very polarizing hire. He's a pretty dry conversationalist and that doesn't help him as the face of a major university. Plus, now that two of Dabo's assistants (Morris and Scott) have gotten head jobs and stink...that doesn't help.

Elliott will need to settle on a mid major job and win big first. That's my take.

I’m with you ClemfanWV. I actually think it’s generally better for a first time HC job to not take a top job. The landscape in college football changes fast now. Buy yourself an extra year. These big $$ programs will not hesitate one second to knee jerk a coach out for the next hot assistant. I’d like to see Tony go somewhere he is given (relatively more) time to build the program, recruit his type of players and win. If you win at a mid tier, major conf or mid major school, good offers for good jobs will be there.
