So, what is "fair market value" for a 4* running back?

I have no idea if this is accurate or not. Just repeating what I read on a Nole board.

Noles flipped UGA commit, Ousmane Kromah, from UGA. It is reported his NIL contract was 400K plus a 50K signing bonus.

No, I don't like it. But, this is the system. This is what the NCAA wanted. Minor league players. Well, the courts said, if you're gonna be a minor league you gotta pay your players. Blame the NCAA. They made their bed; now they gotta sleep in it.

I guess it depends on how bad of a need you have.

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

There is an "unofficial Blue Book."

Dec 6, 2024, 9:40 PM

I've seen from several sources that the leaders of collectives have set up some sort of "unofficial scale."

Along the lines of
Starting left tackle = $_______
Nickel back = $_______

Obviously this can't be official. And, the problem is if two schools are in the market for a starting left tackle, then they can get into a bidding war if they are willing to "over pay the going rate."

Before long we will have the players unionized and there will be a pay scale that is negotiated.

By then, the SEC and B1G will expand and break away and form their own "SuperLeague." Clemson will be included in the expansion.

If you want to get a degree, we won't stop you. But, you've got to do it on your own time. We're playing you to play football, not go to class.

$400k …is that $200k per year with a two year commitment? Or $100k for up to four years?

I wonder as I’m hoping the former.

I was thinking it would be about $200kyear..but didn’t factor in a signing bonus.

Whatever someone is willing to pay.

Same as for a car, dental care, or a house.

"I know what it's worth because I know what I paid for it."

I use it in a different context, but the truth is still there.

They have discount dental care in Tijuana. I think I have a plan for Clemson Football going forward. Anybody have Dabo’s private cell phone number?

What is the fair market value of any player? That will be the new sticking point with the new nil changes.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't count on the NIL clause from the House case settlement

Dec 7, 2024, 9:18 AM

Making it past further legal scrutiny.

Especially given the Alston SCOTUS ruling and the injunction in the Tennessee/Virginia case.

It's a long way from over, no matter how it turns out.

Fair market value

Dec 7, 2024, 8:51 AM

has nothing to do with it. Just how bad do you want player A and do you have enough money to buy him. There is no way a QB that has never played a college snap is worth over $10M but Meechigan had the money and the need.

Believe me there is data to back up the fair market value of a celebrity appearing in a TV commercial to sell deodorant or a billboard for groceries. The “market” isn’t dependent on pay for play. I don’t expect them to be able to enforce it but they can tell you the increase in sales from a regional vs national commercial and how much it is worth to pay for a recognized face to show up. If we are talking real NIL.
