Front page - the roster shortage is NOT

Oct 25, 2021, 1:50 PM

“self prescribed”. That would be like a doctor prescribing himself arsenic. It is “self-described”. Geesh. That sounds so ridiculous.

Did you read the article?

I have no issue with the title of the article given the article's argument.

You might disagree with the argument, but it makes the case that we decided to use (or waste) scholarships on walk-ons rather than to add additional recruits or transfers after losing our own transfers after last season.

don't be shy........."waste" is the proper term for it.***

I read it. The situation is still not “self prescribed”.

We didn’t get in the roster trouble purposely. I agree with a reply on the main thread that “self-inflicted” is what the article describes. There is no way we meant to get into this spot.

I think Self-Prescribed is appropriate...

Oct 25, 2021, 3:40 PM

and then others can say its self-inflicted bc this staff chose to offer more guys or welcome transfers knowing where they stood. They knowingly chose to give out 7 (call it what is is) worthless scholarships instead of finding worthy replacements. It wouldn't have saved the season (on the surface at least) but its the principle.

The article says self-prescribed bc they made the philosophical choice to roll out the roster in this manner. To use the doctor reference....'he self-prescribed eating the leaves to cure his ailment bc he believed they had magical powers but it just made him sick. We'd all say thats self-inflicted.

This is really a pointless argument but just defending the article title bc the writers stance is 'you did this to yourself bc of how you believe the roster should be managed.
