Swofford enough time to line his personal pockets with Raycom$$$. That also gives the SEC and BIG10 5 more years to put that $100 million per school to good use while we hope for Swofford, Raycom, Bojangles and whoever else to throw pennies at us. While Clemaon and FSU are great....the ACC is a dying and soon to be insignificant conference. Always playing catch up with the big boys, that's " Swoffie style," just protect his UNCheat.....

Y'all can rail on Swofford all you want, but the real reason

we are behind the SEC and B1G on this is because their have bigger and better fanbases that care more about college athletics. Sure Clemson and FSU are on par with majority of SEC/B1G fanbases, but that's pretty much where it ends.

My understanding is the ACC's way behind in revs not profits

right now compared to the other conferences. The numbers quoted in all the papers are based on revenues, but those other conferences have a lot more to pay out in there current structure. As far as the bottom line, we're in the back, but not by very much. Ideally you want big revenues and profits, but the two shouldn't be confused.

Of "Bojangles Biscuits and Sweet tea"...that screams massively cutting edge marketing prowess and prosperity.....if you think the ACC, with the exception of Clemson, FSU and maybe 3 other schools is a thriving conference then so be it. We are 4th out of the power 5 conferences in per school $$$. Unless the figures are false coming from the Big 12 we might be 5th....but hey, eat another Bojangles biscuit and take another swig of sweet tea....who needs to compete financially, right?

He only gripes about other leagues passing the ACC financially without offering any constructive solutions. I'm actually quite surprised that they got an ACC network off the ground when they did. The Big 12 has looked at it and given up. Perhaps that's because of the Longhorn network and perhaps it's because of their size. My guess is that it's a little bit of both and the prominence of basketball in the ACC along with the number of games.
An earlier poster indicated the true nature of the problem and it's not Swofford. It's the ACC fan bases. They A) aren't football focused as a general rule and B) tend to be much smaller than other power 5 conferences. Illinois reports over 600K living alumni. Not one ACC school has an alumni base that's even close to that much less tOSU Penn St. or Michigan. On average, the ACC tends to have more small private universities than other conferences. (Wake, Miami, BC, Duke) The top 10 alumni associations are tOSU, Penn St., Michigan, Florida, Illionis, Tennessee, Alabama, Az St, and UCLA.
Doing the easy math, if Clemson graduates 3,000 students a year and on average, they live to be 2022, our alumni base would equal Illinois, the 5th largest in the B1G.

Solutions I would suggest to improve the ACC's
Jul 19, 2016, 10:00 AM

Perception on the national stage would begin with the immediate inclusion of University of Memphis( and the $500 million dollars Fred Smith and FedEx are offering as well as the longtime conference sponsorship by FedEx) and another institution that would fit comfortably in our midst. Academics are important but at the moment, the money pouring into the other power 5 conferences aren't remotely connected to academics. That being said, don't disqualify a new potential conference mate because of academics. Secondly, Hire an aggressive and cutting edge image consultant to enhance and update the ACC national image. Loosen the death grip on our conference by the Tobacco Road blue bloods. North Carolina is no longer the center of the ACC universe and it's time to change. Also, demand the bottom feeders in the conference to invest a mandated amount of their shared revenue into improvements in facilities and programs. Finally, while I am in the business of offering my opinions, Hire a professional commissioner, one not having been affiliated with a member institution, one above the fray and one with the guts to make tough hard decisions about all members, not covering-up, ignoring or enabling anyone institution. Hope this helps since you accused me of just hating the ACC.

$12 million X 5 years equals $60 million.(the cost of the LJ redux) so yes.

So the acc is dying because littlejon?

I'm still not seeing the dots.
Making less on TV deals doesn't mean the conference is dying.
For example. 12 mil more a year from tv- 30 mil per year for the softball, gymnastics, swim teams. This means acc schools have more profit.
Bottom line. The acc schools generate enough revenue to compete in the sports that generate revenue. It is far from dying.
The acc is only susceptible to the same disease all conferences are, megaconference realignmenttis.
At any rate clemson will be fine.

I was trying to say that the $60 million in less revenues would have paid for LJ redux. Yes, Clemson will be fine I am sure of that but with increased dollars maybe we can somehow make going to a Clemson game less expensive for a family. I admit, I am a poor SOB and when I see what it cost to take my wife and 2 sons for a single game to see our Tigers play I get frustrated. But, it's what it is.....thank God for TV. Go Tigers!

Will only go up no matter what kind of tv deal clemson gets. The wildcats told us years ago..." football......it's the sport of kings. .better than diamond rings...football."
Basketball games are still reasonable.
Baseball is more than reasonable.

Not mad just frustrated that you people think when a person has the audacity to criticize the ACC we are somehow attacking and hating Clemson. Come on guys, you know better than that.....all conferences are going to be merged into one super conference and I believe that will be a great day for Clemson.
