Does anyone agree that Dabo has climbed his mountain and ....

Dec 31, 2022, 3:00 PM

Is ok with skiing slowly down the back side? I'm not saying he is a good coach but it surely seems like his passion has waned substantially! I just don't see that fire in his belly to be the best. He reached the pinnacle of college football not once but twice in 10yrs.

Do you think the fire that fed Dabo was his desire to succeed and to prove he is the capable underdog? But that fire continued to be fed by CBV's incredible passion??

I just feel like the beast that made Dabo who he was which was the underdog, the passion, the drive to be one of the best recruiters in the nation, the responsibility to make his coaches successful, the opportunity to get his sons an opportunity to play D1 football has all happened.

What else does he need to do? He or his players have most of the Clemson records, a lot of the ACC records and several NCAA records.

It just appears the passion to be the best isn't what it used to be. Maybe I am missing it but I used to get jacked up when I listened to Dabo's speeches and how we were going to be great and the "Best is yet to come!". But now it just seems like lip service and the fire isn't flaming, the passion of "Bring your own guts!", the slogans that got him face time on ESPN just doesn't feed the masses like he did 4yrs ago.

I hope I am wrong, but I feel confident Dabo would feel the need to make staff changes in he was sitting here but it was 2016 or '17. He would make the changes and would be talking about how he was gonna make Clemson better! But now he says we won the ACC and the 10+win season is huge accomplishment. Uhm, yeah but what about being better and playing for another Natty.

I hope Dabo finds the trigger again that made him beyond great.

Maybe he realized he isn't the underdog anymore after 2018. It's hard to sell the "little ol' Clemson" schtick when you've got two national titles under your belt. The way he's handling the program now just might put us back in that spot though.

I haven't heard the phrase "All In" in a long time but maybe I just missed it. The last two years he was more focused on coddling DJ than doing anything to bring the rest of the team together. When was the last time they did the poker chip thing before kickoff? Not saying it would make a huge difference but it's just something I noticed.

This is what happens when you lose your coaches who got you to the top. It's hurting recruiting as well.

And even when he doesn't lose them they are recruited by the masses. We got whipped last yr by one of the Saban disciples and again last night. Coaches from Saban are winning Natty's (UGA), or have #1 ranked teams during the season (Tenn), or have taken lower SEC teams and made them a threat (Ole Miss).

Saban loses successful coaches, replaces them on a regular basis with other successful coaches. We make coordinators that never been a coordinator or never been one in a D1 program. We have HS coaches that never coached college. We have RB coach that never coached im HS, college or NFL. We have a coaching staff that even Coastal Carolina wouldn't likely hire.

He does, but he would never replace them with Streeter and Wes.***

What people don’t seem to realize is that outside of Watson and Lawrence, this type of play has been fairly common over the the last 10-12 years. Those 2 along with some pretty phenomenal rbs and wr’s were able to cover that up. Dabo is the same as he’s always been. A little on the arrogant side and explodes when someone throws the slightest bit of criticism his way. This team just isn’t built like Bama to reload every single year

and has matured.

Not sure how you can watch him on the sideline and see no passion

Thank you.

The man has repeated all year no one wants to win more or understands the what’s wrong with the team more than him and I believe him. He was in a full body sweat last night he was coaching so hard. I think Dabo’s doing everything he can everyday to be the best team in college football. It may not align with what the masses believe he should be doing but whatever his decisions are he gives them everything he has.

IMO he should be even more focused. The kids are out of the house, he’s built and built aspects of the program to get them where they need to be. It’s time for him to reap the reward of all his work. Give him a few good recruiting classes and everything will be fine. Dabo always gets a top QB (even though DJ didn’t pan out) and if he can find a way to get a few WR’s we will be clicking once again.

Give him a few recruiting classes? What does that mean? He’s had a few recruiting classes and this is what we are. A program that’s been blasted in three of its last four bowl games.

That’s not going to change anything when you have this coaching staff coaching them.

I like Williams alot at WR

want to see this spring the Randall who was wowing everyone before the ACL. Turner looks like a player. Collins didn't play last night. Ngata just had the 2 best games of his career with Cade at QB, and likely returns.

Still need a home run threat

Is Collins hurt? I didn't hear but noticed he didn't play? I asked a couple people why he wasn't playing. If he is hurt then I missed that, only one I saw hurt was Jones. Hopefully it's not because he plans to transfer?

Hope he realizes he has slipped and gets his killer instinct back before it is too late. I fear it already is.

The difference in Dabo and Saban..

Dabo recruits and develops character, which is admirable. The Clemson faithful loves this, until a loss.
Dabo stated several times you can win and win and win, but if you’re not making future fathers, leaders etc… you really lose.. that’s Dabo’s mission… the little ole Clemson theme has died. And all of these catchy phrases are losing their luster. But Dabo’s heart for kids is evident. He’s a teacher, preacher, and mentor for these players. Easy for parents to let their son go play for the tigers…

Saban does it this way…. He looks straight into the camera when interviewed and talk’s accountability, doing your job, and playing to a standard every time, that’s what he expects.. from his players, coaches etc…Then after a dominating win, in his press conferences he talks about what could have been done better… his players are mentioned and their future in the NFL. Saban definitely has the edge there.

Parents look and listen to this stuff…
And think with their kids wallet

Dabo’s focus has changed.
He’s made it to the top, now his focus is on developing his legacy.
He wants to do that by promoting unproven individuals to positions of authority within his football program so we can nurture and develop them into great coaches and leaders of men.
It’s a huge risk, a huge gamble, but Dabo is dedicated to accomplish that goal.
So far I’m not impressed.
