That's what I was thinking. I think he is probably the best recruiter on staff and definitely saw post position improvement since he has been here.

Yeah they are. Sinking ship. Wouldn't have hurt my feelings if Neff had relieved Brad and put Dean in as head coach. His responsibilities area of our front court is one area we actually thrived in... He's done a great job with Hall and Tyson.

It’s what happens when you underpay your staff. Haters always say why do you need more money? This is part of the answer. Surely even you can understand this point

I can guarantee you he’s getting a significant raise.

Just like Goins did when he took the job at BC.
And just like almost all of the assistants we lose.
Please start believing me when I say that we have to spend more on our program. We don’t pay assistants enough, and that affects recruiting, skill development, etc.

But Neff said he was going to pay more to keep assistants?

And if Brad gave a crap, he could surrender $500,000 of his salary and give it to his assistants like Dabo did. I mean how many millions does a guy need?

Yes, which is why Brownell’s coaching tree is filled with people

who have gone on to bigger and better things after Clemson.
Multiple assistants have gone on to take power 5 head coaching jobs. Others have taken positions which were pay and responsibility increases.
You don’t get it.

There goes our best recruiter. Hope Coach has a rabbit up his sleeve. Dean went to a program worse than ours to coach under a different HC. Oh Boy.

Do you know want to know why?
Apr 12, 2022, 7:08 PM
|

It’s because Clemson basketball is cheap. We can’t keep assistant coaches and lose them to places like Boston College and Georgia because they pay more than we do.
Ask yourself: when is the last time we got an assistant from a power 5 school?
If you’ll notice, because we are cheap, we have to get our assistants from small programs. This is because we don’t pay well enough to get assistants from better programs. Then, when they get offers to go to other power 5 programs, they leave because they will make considerably more money.
Yet many of you keep blaming Brad, because you’re clueless and/or you don’t want to accept the truth.
How many more examples do you need before you realize that Brad isn’t the problem here?

Assistant coaches why doesn’t Brad take a small cut to get “better” assistants? I mean Dabo did it and it paid dividends.

I hardly qualify as a Brownell detractor but I'm tired of you spewing this argument when it is not necessarily so. Here's data from 2020 that shows our basketball budget ranked 58th in the country while UGA's ranked 63rd and BC's ranked 79th. And multiple ACC teams that ranked barely above us won the ACC and advanced deep into the tournament
https://www.three-man-weave.com/3mw/college-basketball-budgets-2020 Fun with Finances: Basketball Budgets — Three-Man-Weave In the doldrums of the offseason, we pivoted off the basketball court to open up the accounting ledger. Using the most recent Department of Higher Education numbers, here’s a quick look at each team’s spending situation.
Here's data from 2019 that shows we ranked 32nd in the country and 4th in the ACC in basketball recruiting expenditures.
https://watchstadium.com/how-much-is-your-school-spending-on-college-basketball-recruiting-07-29-2019/
Did it cross your mind that maybe Reynolds Dean left for Georgia because he got a promotion to Associate Head Coach, a raise, closer to home, and a few more years breathing room before the fans want their head coach fired and maybe not because he's so poorly paid at Clemson.
People leave Clemson for a variety or reasons and not all of them support your narrative that they are poorly paid. The stats don't seem to back you up. But if you think you've got some that do, have at it. It only took me a dozen clicks to find these.

Correction: In the second article, only 59 of the top programs data is included. Clemson is ranked 32nd and 5th among the 8 ACC programs listed. So, we're middle of the pack in that particular study.

Is this CBB's attempt to show he will make changes
Apr 12, 2022, 6:22 PM
|
|
To save his job?
Also, noticed there was zero mention about his time at Clemson. Even in his tweet about his excitement of coaching for his home state university. Was there some bad blood with CBB? I don't know personally just curious if there were any issues?
