Did Coach Brownell throw PJ Hall under the bus yesterday

in the ACC Media teleconference? I know Dabo likes to protect and defend his players, which I prefer.
Why does he single out PJ Hall for criticism?

Try to follow:
Dabo coaches players up.
Brad blames players for losses.
So yea, there’s a different reaction to those two approaches.

One called out a player’s performance which the coach is responsible for.
One called out a player’s character as you said, which is the player’s responsibility. Upbringing factors in a lot but hard to undo 17/18 years in 4.

Refresh my memory. I’ve seen him go after players on the sidelines (Potter comes to mind). That’s coaching. Can’t recall him throwing anyone under the bus even though he gets much more pointed questions about a particular player or position. (DJ for example).

Various other players on defense last year.
Also Cade Klubnik.
There are of examples of Dabo singling out players for mistakes or poor play in press conferences.
I don’t think it’s wrong, but if people are going to criticize Brownell for doing it then I should hope that they would criticize Dabo for the same thing.

Dabo can do it because he has results as a head coach, he has lots of championships. He has also coached players into being drafted. A lot of players drafted under Dabo. I’m guessing Brad can’t really say that. No championships and maybe 3 players drafted.

That makes a TON of sense.
If you have won championships, you can coach up your players and talk ajj B out them to the media
If you are brownell you can't do either.

I didn’t say you can’t. I’m just saying you can’t compare BB To Dabo. Dabo has giving a lot more back to people around him. He has given former players jobs. Former players opportunities. He has helped coach players into the nfl. He has won at the highest level. You can coach your players any way you want. But BB and Dabo shouldn’t be spoken in the same breath if you are comparing coaching styles.

Dabo was right. Too bad Dixon didn’t listen.
And Dabo was coaching a young man. Mentoring, leading. He didn’t blame Dixon for a loss, like Brownell does.

That quote was also part of an answer to a question from a reporter regarding Lyn-J specifically. Probably someone questioning his number of carries early last year, as many on here shared about at the time. Prompts are important, and context is a wonderful thing.

what is wrong with you people. do you have nothing better to do than sit in your moms basement and just twist and turn every word that comes out of a coaches mouth. all you got to do is look at the players that come back and play when they could be gone or at least in the portal. some of you truly need to get a life.

I don’t know what was said but publicly coaching a kid up on his attitude is different than publicly using a kid’s performance as a scape goat.
Again I don’t know what was said but that’s my two cents as a general statement, which has no bearing to any specific person

You are completely incapable of honesty. Hall is a great player who has improved. But you’re comparing gross scoring numbers from a freshman season that be averaged 10 minutes a game to now. His points / minutes have improved 60% from his freshman year - not WOWEE OMG!! 4X BRUH!!! Also his points, assists, and blocks per minutes played are down from last year. That’s against a schedule that is rated as easier than last season by half. So, if a player regresses in his third season against a significantly easier schedule is it really a basis for offering accolades for his coach?

Wow. A lot to unpack here. Hilarious that you call somebody a liar, and then lie in the same exact post! Embarrassing.
PJ's numbers are slightly better than last years per minute played.
2021: .56 point per minute played, .21 rebound, and .06 assist
2022: .60 point per minute played, .23 rebound, and .04 assist
He has done this while playing injured in the first half only the non conference games. Also, our team is much better than last year. The ball needs to be spread around a lot more.
Hunter and brevin > honor and dawes Schef is slightly worse offensively than Collins Hunter Tyson took a huge step from last year.
So better scorers on our team, him playing hurt, and his numbers are still slightly better than last years when looking at numbers per minute.
Thanks for trying, liar!

There is a huge difference between a lie and a mistake. I pulled my numbers from Sports Reference and misread the career line as the 2022-23 line. That was points only. He has regressed in the others mentioned. So yes, he is improved marginally on points from last year. A simple mistake and one I’m happy to concede. None of which counters my bigger point: JK knowingly and deliberately misrepresented Hall’s statistics freshman year until now in furtherance of an agenda. You’re going to quibble about accounting for “spreading the ball around more” but turn a blind eye to JK claiming that Hall is 4X the shooter he was a freshman and then lay the credit at Brownell’s feet? Try and be remotely serious.
For your other points: Hunter’s huge step is essentially back to his 3rd year averages.
I would respond to your personal attacks but it’s against board rules. Eventually enough people will actually notice one of your posts and you’ll find out the hard way.

Big S-T-R-E-T-C-H. This happened after Lyn-J undermined the coaches by telling a younger player the coaches said he was starting instead of the younger player.

After every loss, Brad will mention some players by name citing something they didn't do. Ticks me off. It's your freaking job, Mr. Keller, to make sure the players execute. Sometimes it doesn't happen and players are at fault, but we've been watching the players being blamed for 13 years.

Idk but to my eye Hall has been a liability on the defensive side of the ball both defending and rebounding. On the offensive side if the ball he needs to be stronger with the ball. Too many turnovers and going to the basket weakly.

I missed his comments, but PJ didn't really look 100% Saturday vs Miami - seemed to be favoring his right leg or foot some. Not as much spring from him as we've seen before.

Dabo called out Myles Murphy this past year. I have no issue with a coach calling out a player, especially when said player is one of the teams best. It's no secret that the Tigers success relies on PJ, Chunter, Tyson carrying their weight.

He called out nearly every position group, coaches included, largely to help take all the heat off one individual player that fans and reporters were relentless about at the time.
Context, again, is a wonderful thing.
