Anyone rented lately? Is this all over the market?
Planning a trip out west and a full size SUV (Tahoe/Suburban) at National/Enterprise is over $2500 for 11 days. Dafuqqqq? I paid $1300 for that last summer, seems like doubling the rental budget wasn't in the cards for me.
Anyone ever driven a Ford Edge?

Rented an F-150 (was cheaper than a full size SUV) in San Diego last summer for 6 days. $886.
Book a Tahoe (now cheaper than a truck) in San Diego this coming summer for 7 days. $732.
Not sure how they are doing prices.

Booked Turo probably 8 times. Only once was it cheaper than my rental car options, and that was because I waited till last minute and the rental agencies had no inventory.
Usually after fees Turo comes out a little more, but it's usually a funner car. I've only had one d-bag owner who tried to blame me for damage I didn't do. It ultimately went nowhere.

I've never rented a Turo. I think Obed has referenced using them before.

I did however listen to Tyler Hoover on his YouTube channel talking about how much a Turo rental for him ended up being after the cleaning fees, and how he was charged (and mostly got out of) a ridiculous fee for some scratches he said he didn't do, and I tend to believe him. I was searching for his video from last year and about 15 other links of Turo owners doing the same thing popped up.
I think I'll just stick with Enterprise and avoid the hassle.
His description starts at 2:55:

Legit question

And this isn't judgy or asked with anything other than pure curiosity. I know you watch him a ton....what do you like about his material? I have tried to get into him, because I figure he likes cars, I like cars, but I just find him to be crazy bland and vanilla. His knowledge of cars seems to be the equivalent of the opening paragraph of a wikipedia entry on that car. He's kind of a dork, although he's the coolest guy in the industry next to DeMuro. He doesn't know how to fix anything and just hands a blank check and the car over to the Wizard, who I'm convinced is a serial killer or pedophile who just hasn't been caught yet.
He just seems like a guy who's casually interested in a car, buys it, pays his mechanic to fix it, and then sells it for a loss. Have I missed the good episodes?

I think the totally different cars he buys and drives are the draw for me. He's pretty truthful with reviews when he does them (he was the first person who just destroyed the F150 lightning and its lac of towing ability). Seeing what he does with the Ferrari's (the manual conversions and engine rebuilds) and Porsches (Who puts a LS in a 911?) and all the other random stuff he does is interesting to me. Wizard's is an interesting dude, but I can only rarely watch his own channel. I think him and Hoovie balance each other out pretty good, but I can definitely see why you'd say that about Hoovie. His new show with his girlfriend is a total loser though--I can't sit through an episode of that. As hot as she is, its amazing how annoying she is and they are together.
I know folks that love Clarkson and the older Top Gear shows--and i couldn't sit through an episode of those. The only time I really ever enjoyed Top Gear is teh season or two Matt Leblanc was on the American version.
But then again, I also regularly watch the most arrogant and boring car guy on youtube too--WatchJrgo. I think the only reason I watch him is I love to hate him.
So to answer your question, I have no idea. Bad taste?

I've also shared this before, but never hurts again, and it may help with your concern. You probably aren't Emerald Club executive level, but no biggie. You see a suburban on the executive aisle, hop in and drive off just like it was on the regular aisle. They don't care and won't charge you more. I'm not even sure they have the executive vs regular cars coded any differently in their system. They're just parked on different aisles.
So the noobs might be fighting for the Grand Cherokees on the regular aisle, but staying away from the Tahoes or Suburbans on the executive aisle because they think they can't get them. Boom, there's your SUV.

I used to use that before I figured out my work provides a pretty steep discount on rental cars.

Drive it out west, save $3k in airfare for 4 and another $3k for a rental.
Now you got the Suburban for $94k.
Win-win

Might have even made money on the whole thing.
Unfortunately now, that $100K Suburban would be worth about $65K when you get done with it.

don't have the Emerald Grab & Go (I don't think) - so I have to book online and Priceline has been the best for the 8 to 10 cars a year I have to do that way.

I always start with Costco which gives you a matrix of offers for various companies and sizes of car.
You can get a reservation that's fully refundable.
Then I check other sites and individual companies to see if there are any deals.
Costco is usually the lowest but not always.
and some rates do decrease close to the reservation date if availability changes.
