Did we miss a window of opportunity to make a move?

We were a hot commodity in 2015-16, kicking azzz and taking names in CFB. It was us and Bama at the top. Conference expansion was heating up. But then the ACC Grant of Rights was extended for another 20 years. And we signed on for that. Which apparently locks us into the ACC for a while. How stupid was that.

I'm guessing now we're not as attractive to other conferences. Has the window slammed shut?

I could care less about all the GOR and conference talk anymore, we dont need the Big10 or SEC

all the conference talk was fun for awhile. but now things are changing even more, a good X and O coach is the most important thing not a conference invite. Indiana rose up not because of Big10 or this or that, but for 1 reason a good coach.

Uconn takes no big10 or SEC money heck they cant even get an invite from big12 or ACC and guess what there just gonna keep on collecting title trophies.

OK, so UConn is the example. They've lost to Delaware and Rice.

How do you think they'd do in the SEC or BIG? What "X and O coach" do you think they could afford going forward? The money difference will only grow going forward.

No no and no !Just like the gang that thinks Clemson wouldn't survive post Dabo. Why are espn and other commentators still talking about us because we are a BRAND.We still have viewers even when we are bad. I give Dabo 2 years max if he doesn't right the ship the vultures will be circling and it will be a mutually parting of ways thing Clemson will be in the SEC or BIG at the end of the day so will FSU only a matter of time.

Clemson never had a good path to the SEC. Our presence in the SEC would have not done anything special to increase the ratings of ESPN’s deal with the SEC. That is not because Clemson wasn’t a great brand. Rather, the SEC already dominated the TV audience across the Southeast and lower reaches of the Mississippi River delta region.

What the SEC needed to increase viewership in a big way meant expanding their footprint into TX and OK. Which they did.

As for the B1G, Clemson was not then, nor is it now, a member of the academic ‘club’ American Association of Universities. Nebraska was a member of the AAU back when they joined the B1G, but has since ‘lost’ their membership. Apparently, membership in the AAU is an unofficial (yet, by looking at history, indeed necessary) precondition before the B1G will allow entry into their athletic conference.

So the B1G was never an option for us.

BTW, FSU is also in our situation. FSU in the SEC does not help the SEC’s ratings on the Disney / ESPN programming. Nor is FSU a member if the AAU.

I don't know that there WAS an opportunity at that time...

but the ACC has been consistently behind the times on their financial decisions.
Football driving expansion? Let's add schools based on TV markets (Boston and Syracuse), basketball (Syracuse and Louisville) rather than compelling weekly matchups.

Sign a ridiculously long TV deal why? So we, too, can have our very own Jr. High production that is the ACC network... right as the big two are moving to Fox and ESPN.

If we DID have a chance to move then and didn't take it... yeah, I think we missed a golden opportunity.
