No matter what you may have seen in a movie about a bunch of slobbering college students who didn't attend class very often, to answer the question, no, Hitler actually disapproved of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Obviously not because he liked us so much, but because he feared what would happen if America was brought into the war. The Japanese thought they could completely take out our Pacific fleet with a surprise attack, and although seemingly successful, didn't achieve their ultimate goal because our aircraft carriers were perform training exercises at sea when the attack occurred and they were untouched. When the Japanese realized this, they immediately understood that all they had accomplished with the attack that day was to awaken and provoke a sleeping giant, just as Hitler had feared. The rest, as they say, is history.
