passed....One of the Four Horsemen. Was it Rogers,Spurrier,Ric Flair,and Gamecock Will? I remember clearly the day he showed up at a house I had for sale in Wrentree in Powdersville. Probably 5'6'' MAX in a Garnet Tshirt with big gold chain, driving a garnet Ford Fusion. I kid you now. I told my builder as soon as he left that we had just met Gamecock Will.....He really liked the house, but I swear, I think he must have found out who I was,because he never answered another call from me....
Come August...He will be missed.

I had no clue he was battling anything. My best friend’s dad just had 2 strokes last week. He’s only 61. Luckily, still alive, but you never know when it’s your time.
Prayers out to GW’s family. I always looked forward to his stoopidity on-air, but I heard in real life he was a generous man that would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. That’s the type of people we need more of nowadays.

Dealt w hospice when my mom died. The people who do that are special. They are angels who walk among us. I have met many and they are all like that

His radio persona was no act - it was 100% genuine. He was our delivery driver at a company I used to work for, and aside from being a warped coot fan, he was really a nice guy, and once he found out I was a Clemson fan, the chirping never stopped. It was all good natured though, and I gave it right back. I had not seen him in about 5 or 6 years, and am sorry to learn of his passing. He was quite a character, and will be missed.

We would play basketball with some mutual friends.
I always called him Carey. That's what I knew him as.
I literally did not know that he was the "Gamecock Will" until about 7 or 8 yrs ago.
Back in the day he was just a nice guy that smiled a lot. Very pleasant to be around. Never heard him say a negative thing, even when we whipped his behind on the court.
Give him credit, he knew how to rile up us Clemson fans once he transitioned to his alter ego.

Back around 01' or so I ran the Haywood mall UPS route. Gamecock Will was an Airborne Express driver in that area. We would always chat when we ran into one another.
