Did DRad know this was coming and if so

Jul 1, 2022, 6:19 AM

Did he think Clemson might get left out? Did he think Miami (market, recruiting, NIL) is a bigger draw than Clemson?
If ND joins the ACC there may be a chance it survives. If ND goes Big Ten are the ACC and Clemson left out in the cold?

Clemson can pick and choose as they please. They are holding out to see where they want to be.

1. Recruiting - how long has it been since Miami beat in recruiting?

2. NIL - too much gnashing of teeth on this one. The wild west NIL of right now cannot sustain itself. Buying of players by folks completely uninterested in what "NIL" means will be reigned in with rules and guidelines. It will ultimately not be a case where the biggest schools with the richest boosters are running college football. Like Dabo and Saban have said - college football cannot be sustained under the current mess the NIL created when unleashed without any guidelines. Either we fix it, or college football falls apart. The first thing I can see is a cap - no school can spend over X on NIL, and there has to be some stipulations and "contracts" regarding actual use of a name, image, or likeness, and when taking (capped) NIL money you cannot transfer without losing the money or some other penalties.

3. As has been covered numerous times, a size of a "market" means nothing. You can be in little ol Clemson or Tuscaloosa and attract fans and TV watchers all over the United States. Just because Syracuse is near New York, thier market means nothing. Clemson is a national draw regardless.

Recruiting was referring to Florida/Miami area pool of talent. SEC TV exposure could be a benefit to conf.
