I saw a story on that this morning. It's 13 degrees cooler or something like that. That's why the Dolphins wear white at home

I’ve been a Dolphin fan for a very long time. That temperature difference has only been in place since the partial roof was installed and the home sideline is now in the shade. They wore white for home games early in the season as part of their home field advantage before the partial roof was installed. I lived down there for 10 years and a 1:00 game early in the season is brutal. I’ve seen them wear out the Raiders when the raiders had to wear black and the hottest game I have ever been to (yes hotter than Texas A&M in the valley) was Fins vs Patriots in either 2001 or 2002. There were 8 of us at the game and by the end of the first quarter only 2 of us were still in our seats. The rest had gone in the concourse to get out of the sun. Fins wore out the Pats that day with the Pats wearing their dark blue jerseys. But as someone else said, that is not a factor at an 8PM game in late December. Sounds like the players chose the white jerseys. I don’t care what color we wear, long as we wear out the Vols.

Tennessee was also ranked No. 6 then too.

Heupel said he hasn't talked with his team about unis yet. Possible they wear orange jerseys and pants, but I wouldn't be shocked if they got traditional white helmet, orange jerseys, white pants.

Clemson wearing White Jerseys at Death Valley from early 60s

Plus the 60s Orange Jerseys
They sold the remaining ones in '70 or '71 at the book store after we changed over to the white numbers and Tiger Paws in 1970. I bought a 72 & 99 jersey. Gave one to my son who graduated in 2015 and still have the other.
