Dabo/Florida

I heard someone on the interwebs this morning talking about Dabo to Florida to replace Napier. Thoughts? I cant see Florida wanting someone whos ideals are as controversial as Dabos in the college football landscape. Plus the buyout would be insane.

If Coach Swinney can sell his self to Florida it's possible. Florida is in dire-straits/bottom of the barrel. The Admin, AD, and Big Boosters want a proven-winner. No coach out there except Kirby Smart ( Not leaving Georgia ) Ryan Day ( Not leaving OSU ) has a resume that can stack-up to Swinney's. It's going to be interesting going forward especially if he can win out the remaining games.

UF is not going to hire Dabo even if he were available. Just wont happen. Not sure why ppl keep saying this.....
I had to laugh last Tuesday when Dabo, being 1-2, was very confident about going somewhere else. Yep, you could, but it won't be a better place/program than Clemson. Do I think he could get a GT type job...sure. But a Top 10 type job at this time...no. I don't think some Clemson fans understand that CDS isn't that popular outside of Clemson. The tirade on Tuesday soured ppl even more. Just dont understand why he felt that was a good thing to do...go off on a 14 minute rant.

I have a feeling he didn’t think it was such a good idea shortly after, particularly, when he saw how it played or even when he actually saw it himself.

Think UF is still a top 10 job? Probably, but they are on the edge. Bama, UGA, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, ND, USC, Mich, tOSU are a very obvious top 9, imo. But #10 is probably a slugfest between UF, Clemson, Miami, Oregon, TAMU, Penn State.
Anyway, I wouldn't discount a desperate UF to go for a coach like Dabo. Meyers tenure was stained with off field shenanigans and character issues. Followed by a brutal run of mediocrity, Muschamp, Mcelwain, Mullen and Napier. Mullens run was decent, but it got back to some questionable culture. If they want a proven winner without character issues, it’s basically Dabo or Saban. Ficke, Klieman and Leipold would also be solid choices but they haven’t proven they can win it all. Dabo hasn’t proven he can win it all in our current system but he’s one the very short list of active national championship winning coaches.

Among those ‘slugfest’ contenders which you listed for the #10 spot, Clemson has the lowest big $ donor resources.
Financial heft means more than ever in today’s CFB environment (which you and everyone else know).
Love of Clemson does not blind me to the reality that, in terms of overall program strength, Clemson is no longer a A to Z ‘Top 10’ FB program.

Dabos side of the buyout if he were to leave for another job this year is apparently 6mil, and Florida owes Napier around 19mil. They could pay Dabos release and Napiers buyout for about 25mil total which is pretty cheap these days.

The buyouts are not equal on both sides. Dabo can leave for a fraction of what it would cost Clemson to fire him.

I dont think they would want the portal/values/family/stubborn aspect of Dabo. Places like Florida want to freaking win at all costs. They dont care if the players head straight to prison out of college.

You are correct Napier's buyout at Florida is $19MM. $6MM upon firing and the remaining $13MM prorated.

Everyone keeps saying he'll go to florida, but if he ever leaves here I'd put him going to Auburn. Going "home" he feels slighted by not getting serious looks at the bama job. Auburn will give him the keys to the kingdom and to do whatever he wants as long as he beats bama like a drum. Also to his credit he's still always pulled out a couple guys from the state of bama every year so it's clear he still knows his territory and high school coaches back there.

I really dont see him leaving, unless Bama came calling. But that ship has sailed in my opinion. He won't have it as easy any other place as he does here.

Im not talking about his religion and putting that in the forefront of the program. Im talking about his view on NIL and the portal and the "im going to do it my way" attitude. Nothing about christianity whatsoever. More teams could use a little Jesus.

Yall please stop spreading this bs. It makes us look incredibly stupid.
Florida is not hiring Dabo. He’s not even on their radar. Even if he was… he would be a total moron to leave here for there bc that fan base would eat him alive. He thinks he’s got criticism here? Go to Florida and refuse to use the portal or try to recruit against the SEC without leading with NIL and watch what happens.
It’s never going to happen but from our perspective… we should get on our hands and knees and pray the shot callers at Florida are stupid enough to come get him. That would be an instant fix for us.

What happened to “BYOG”?
What happened to “the best is yet to come”?

BRAVO....
That's why CDSs rant on Tuesday was so tone-deaf. NO high-end NC caliber program is going to hire him ATM. The high-end SEC programs would eat him alive. CDS actually has it REAL good at CLEM----which makes his rant so incredulous. At Bama or UF, there are tens of thousands of Tylers...

JREwing… far as I can tell bro… myself… you… JCantrell have been the 3 people on here for quite awhile trying to tell people this was coming but no one would listen.
Now I’m sure they’re others and apologies for leaving any others out it’s just I’ve noticed how much us 3 have been basically parroting each other for awhile and I mean awhile.
I also know all 3 of us wish like crazy we were wrong and we’d all love to eat some humble pie… unfortunately… we saw this coming but I don’t think even we thought it would be this… for this year bc I know I didn’t.
I figured this type of season was coming next year. So I certainly missed on this season and I have no problems admitting it.
