It's been pretty well documented that Dabo has wanted him to be Coach Riley's shadow for whenever that time comes. If something is working Dabo likes an internal successor so he can maintain continuity. He typically only goes outside of the Clemson circle when we need an overhaul.

We'll see. That has been his philosphy and I certainly would not be surprised. I think GR sticks around at least another year.
I'd prefer an outside hire but I am not making the decision. An important component of this job people often ignore is that GR is also the QB coach.

Four points
Richardson very successfully ran the air raid when coaching HS ball so it is not surprising that he would be considered.
No way it is 100% certain.
I believe Riley stays through next year at least (assuming Cade returns)
I doubt Richardson’s wife has anything to do with Dabo naming him OC or not naming him. If that was a big deal Dabo would have given him the OC job when Streeter was fired instead of hiring CGR

If the Offense keeps rollin' which I suspect it will be if Riley is beng courted to take a Head Coaching job, it's going to be an internal hire. Love it or hate it, that is the Dabo way. He likes to promote from within if at all possible. I doubt Grisham who has never shown he was even a decent position coach until this year or Spiller who is light on coaching experience would be considered. Then, there's Jeff Scott, but we distinctly hired Riley to get away from the Streeter/Scelliott Offense because it was stale and unimaginative. Coach Rich is pretty much the only possible hire if Dabo keeps it internal.

I suppose he might hire from inside the organization again, but I would hope for a national search for a replacement as he did for Venables, Morris and Riley. I suspect there are some sharp offensive coordinators who'd jump at the chance to come to Clemson....

Let's hope Dabo has learned from his previous mistakes the importance of making good hires.
That being said , if Richardson is that guy so be it.
But to make a premature decision is a mistake.

What really good Offensive Coordinator that is innovative and has an explosive offense would you think we could get in?
We could see if we could pull the OC from: San Jose State - they run what they call the: "Spread and Shred offense"!
Maybe the OC at Texas State?
