So, they made adjustments to stop the run in the 2nd half and we didn’t. He did admit to not having a passing game, all game. However, why didn’t Cade get a chance , because “DJ was running his a$& off”? Shouldn’t a QB be able to pass? It’s been the same ol’ song and dance all year. No faith in our coaches, especially one who’d rather lose than make a QB change.

Just flat out wrong QB for our offense and abilities!! If what’s his name, I can’t even say it, had an NFL OLine that could give him hour to throw or receivers that could catch maybe he’d be ok, maybe?

All the complaining and suggestions and angst isn’t going to change a thing until somebody if anybody is in charge of Dabo ,shake some sense into his thick skull …today football is a business not a family and if that’s what we want then we need to accept ACC is low on the conference totem pole… and not change anything as we fast become another mediocre team…I personally think we as fans are owed a whole lot more!

You talking about a sorry qb, but you aren't saying anything about the dropped passes, the fumbles that resulted in scores or secured the game for the other team. Streeter said it right that it wasn't all DJ. We lost on multiple facets. And while you are calling DJ sorry, I'm absolutely certain he plays the game better than you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Brandon Streeter calls Clemson offensive performance a 'tough day at the office'

Nov 26, 2022, 8:26 PM

But does he play the game better than Cade? That's the question.

DJ has no 'touch' on his throws. A quarterback who can finesse his passes makes his receivers look better.

Do you think we won 10 games because DJU was the quarterback or despite DJU being the quarterback? Because I don't see how we lose more than two with someone else in the pocket.

God forbid DJU returns next season.

Of course he does. That’s his job not mine. This was a poor all around performance. DJ has terrible footwork, decision making and vision. The receivers can not find separation. “Better job of working in the TE’s???!” It’s the twelfth game of the #### season. Very little pre snap movement. The Gamecocks didn’t fall for our pathetic attempts at “window dressing”. Terrible all around.

Please get over yourself we’ve been looking at DJ screw up for two years and nobody’s doing a thing about it. We have fallen in every single pole and if stats are important then we should pay attention to that. I’m sorry number seven in the nation and we don’t have a quarterback.

We ran the ball well, but I decided we would pass the ball more --- cause I is Da' Coach**** and gets paid to make them calls !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tight ends could probably have caught a lot of passes, but DJ wanted to see how far he sling it over the length of the field and I told him to go ahead.

We will get back to work Monday and let Cade watch DJ, so he will be ready to keep him company on the sideline -- don't want him to loose his confidence.

No No No, what should be done, is to stop paying Dabo's project coaches. Believe what you want to, but that is the best thing that could happen for Clemson FB!!! And I hope that if Neff is worth his salt, he will be in Dabo's office telling him that his project hire was a failure!!!

he doesn't need to hide and he doesn't need anyone to cover for him ( or her ). Stand up and be an adult and explain why the punt returner ( Williams ) wasn't told to call for a fair catch at the end? Basic football smart strategy here would most likely ended in a Tiger win. So once again, name yourself and explain to the football world why this simple wave of a hand could have had a different outcome. I don't want hear he was trying to make a play or there were other things that could have turned the game. We are talking about this one simple use of a brain cell from the special teams coach. Now explain!!!!

If DJ starts against UNC I’m not watching. I have better things to do for 3 hours than watch a Div 1 QB throw for 99 yds. He is a Ryan Leaf caliber bust. We are fans that like to watch our team compete and hopefully win. We don’t watch to see unqualified former players try to be coaches or awful players propped up for the hope of a last round draft pick at the next level. You could fit all the plays we ran today on a 3x5 card with an 18 pt font.

Re: TNET: Brandon Streeter calls Clemson offensive performance a 'tough day at the office'

We stink. DJ continues to regress. Streeter is poor at offensive calls or schemes and cannot develop a QB. Grisham is struggling with WR’s.
Change is needed. Please Dabo do something this off season with staff. Thank you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: If Streeter worked in an office

Nov 26, 2022, 7:58 PM

would have been fired a long time ago. Results let you keep your job. I don't name him as a coach because he has been far from it. Saying 10 wins so far is no where near enough to say you did your job. Ever since he has been there there has been a steady regression on offense and especially on QB's. As far as DJ is concerned what does he and his parents have on Dabo? Any other coach on any other team would have benched him a long time ago. You cannot believe the bull that he is all world in practice but then he folds like a cheap suit in games. We've heard Klubnik is awesome but has never gotten the chance to prove it. More bull. You mean to say every single QB on the roster is worse than DJ? The Tigers by the skin of their teeth have been lucky not to be 7-5 after today. Evidently the the national folks have known for time Clemson has been way over rated. The lamecocks should have never been in this game from the beginning considering the talent gap. Only because of Dabo's stubborn loyalty to DJ and the ineptness of a middle grade school OC has this year been a hard watch. Bottom line is college football is money and you better put a top notch product on the field or the donors and other money will be out to use somewhere else. We will see if strong tough decisions will be made or if blind loyalty will be the same song of the day.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

TNET: B.Streeter - Nothing about WRs can't get separation?

Nov 26, 2022, 8:18 PM

Did any of ya'll notice that our WRs are largely incapable of getting any separation?

(The exception being Antonio Williams, who does well but lacks the top-end speed to get separation other than via his crafty moves.)

This inability for our WRs to get separation has been the case for 2 years now.

For those watching on TV, did you notice how many times ALL of our WRs were blanketed by 1 on 1 coverage.

Those few deep shots which were actually on target were batted away by the S.Carolina DBs.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Not going to get started on the key moments of the game drops by two of the usual WR suspects.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

DJU stunk it up today, but with the WR problem Cade wouldn't have had much success, either.

We've just GOT to get better WRs. Maybe Tyler Brown can help next year. We need more than just him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Seldom got separation but DJ threw it anyway.

Nov 27, 2022, 1:47 AM

DJ was lucky that SCAR only got one pick. He repeatedly threw to guy who were blanketed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Brandon Streeter calls Clemson offensive performance a 'tough day at the office'

Nov 26, 2022, 8:56 PM

So we will see if Dabo has the wisdom, and strength, to conclude that the DJ Era is over, as of today. Start Cade next week and back him up with Hunter Johnson. Ditto in the Whatsit Bowl that we are now relegated to playing in. Dabo Swinney has done a great job of building a program that we could only dream about in the Bowden days. But as Cyndi Lauper sang long ago, “Money Changes Everything”. It is clear that super-wealthy Dabo is distracted now. He lives a different life than when he was hungry. It happens. However, I do not want him to leave Clemson—just to quit thinking about Dabo the Celebrity, and his personal wealth (as all noveau riche people do), refocus and make some hard decisions, just as he did when he took over from Bowden in midseason 2008. Fire some people. This program needs to be retooled. We need some big-league coordinators, for starters. We also need to face the new landscape in college football. Beamer used the Portal to get several key players, including Rattler, and this was a different team from the one we beat 30-0 a year ago. Dabo should hire Jeff Scott to at least recruit some wide receivers like we used to have. Venables left Goodwin a very experienced defense that, with a couple of major exceptions, played some good ball this year. But thanks to our inconsistent offense, they were on the field way too much. That is when mistakes happen. But also, Goodwin does not appear to be a big leaguer as a coach. As for Streeter, he has never shown the creative play calling that we saw from the Carolina OC today. But then, given how limited DJ is, just how creative can he be? Elliott struggled with the same handicap. Still, Streeter is not a big-league coordinator either. But here is the question: Is Dabo personally secure enough to bring in some big-league coordinators the way the other elite teams do? Right now, all his coaches give him 100% loyalty because he groomed and promoted them. I think that is very important to Dabo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's a groomer.***

An offensive coordinator with no feel for play-calling and a QB who has no feel for the position. It’s a disastrous and a losing combination, and it’s time to move on. Give play-calling duties to another coach — anyone — and start Cade next Saturday. Please, no more of this sorry offense that offers nothing more than wide receiver screens, off-tackle run plays, and 50/50 deep balls.

The best employees take responsibility. I don’t see it here. Dabo has a lot to look at and loyalty doesn’t cut it at this level. You build loyalty through performance, acknowledging problems and finding solutions. We’ve had no solution at qb in 2 years.

You can’t have blind loyalty where there’s no improvement or acknowledgment of your issues. Beating inferior opponents doesn’t show improvement, it’s just taking advantage of an opportunity.

Losing to an inferior opponent by not taking advantage of your available options shows a lack of vision.

The benefit of Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott was that they balanced the pass and run games focus while bother being OC. Now, we have the QB coach calling plays, and abandons the crazy successful run game while ahead despite having zero success throwing. So, of course it's the WR drops and other guys on the field's fault. And DJ 'ran his @$$ off.' It's pretty obvious he's trying to prove he's a good QB coach by being a terrible OC. Shipley obviously agrees too.

It's time for Dabo to use the coach transfer portal.
