Defensive Coordinator target list

1

Dec 31, 2024, 1:46 PM

Who’s on your list? Need someone who’s established and not an assistant type.

Mike Zimmer
Pete Golding
Matt House
Will Muschamp
Chris Hampton

Others?

I can’t stand him, but I would gamble on Muschamp, but the man doing the hiring wouldn’t.

I agree with you, and I agree bc I think that Mustcan't talked a little to much smack about/toward Dabo's direction when he was the coot HC...

Why? Because he coached in Columbia? So did Brad Scott..I think Muschamp would be a good hire, has that Venables/kirby Smart intensity

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's not HC material , but being a dang good DC

Dec 31, 2024, 2:39 PM [ in reply to Re: Defensive Coordinator target list ]

is what had him named HCin Waiting @ Texas.

B Scott came from Chickenville and he's the one responsible for SW2 coming to Clemson.

I broke it down below, but only stupid people would write him off. Dude has been the defensive coordinators for 5 different teams, in the college and NFL. All have been top 5 defenses, and he has 3 national titles and two others that were close.

Being a bad head coach doesn't mean he's a bad coordinator. Venables is a terrible head coach but was our great DC ever.

Pattersons defenses looked very average after joining a legitimate conference. Look at points given up vs the SMU’s , Iowas States of the world

Re: Defensive Coordinator target list

Muschamp is a great defensive coordinator, horrible head coach. He had the top defense in the country at LSU and won a NC. He was okay in the NFL at the Dolphins and had a very aggressive defense, second in the NFL in sacks. He had the top defense in the SEC at Auburn after that and was a finalist for the Broyles. He went to Texas and had the top defense in the Big 12. He was a terrible head coach for Florida and went back to Auburn at DC for a season. The defense improved in that season for him. He was a terrible HC at South Carolina. He then went to UGA. As co-defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator, Georgia won 2 national championships and had top 5 defenses both years.

So Muschamp has been the defensive coordinator for 5 different teams: LSU, Miami Dolphins, Auburn, Texas, and Georgia. At all five, he coached top 5 defensive units.

You don't know what you're talking about, and just don't like him because he was an HC for South Carolina.

Take Pete off the list. I played for him at Tusculum in 2008 and have followed his career closely.

It's a 3-3-5/4-2-5 scheme with 3 true d-line. I don't see that fitting with Dabo's philosophy and his defenses were average at Alabama.

We need a list from someone who’s established instead of a person who has been on the site five weeks

This logic is mind boggling. Tenure on this web site=knowledge? I guess Dabo himself can’t form a list.

P. J. Folker - DC and linebackers coach for Navy. They had the #1 defense in the country this season, and he's been a DC for a few years now. We can definitely offer him more money.

Reggie Herring.

Coached at Clemson during the arguably best run of Tommy Bowdens career.

Often times blitzed 11, sometimes 12, so very aggressive.

Incredibly intense , played football. Still alive according to Wikipedia.
