Clemson fan as you'll meet, but the shameless self-promotion is overly douchey, to put it mildly. I've seen his RV tailgate setup before--he has the standard huge flagpole with Clemson flags, but there's also a giant flag with his "hat" on it, you know, because he's "The Hat".

You know, I like Clemson and all that… but there’s something just deeply saddening to me about that guy & other “superfans” really of any sport or team.

never heard of "The Hat" until today. Maybe I am lucky or maybe I am just not as big of a fan as I thought.
That is a little bit sad, to base your entire identity around being a fan of a team. But if that gives him joy, more power to him, I guess.
