Can you ask Coach next time you have the chance why the coaches still go with Shipley on short yardage situations over Mafah?

Does he not pick those tough yards up during practice and Shipley really is the better option. Obviously Ship is not a bad option we've watched him fight his way in there a few times, but is this to try and throw the defenses off for maybe a pass to the flats or over the top to the tight end?

I'm pretty sure that a lot of other people are wondering the same thing.

For the ones that are a broken record, we know the O-line is a weak spot no need to reiterate that. We're talking backs right now and who gives us the best shot on a short yardage to gain situation. And yes I'm well aware that the initial push from the line is what makes all the difference.

It’s probably to help Shipley’s confidence and help satisfy Shipley’s ego. Because certainly he won’t fumble this time. I mean, not again.

Because over the last two years, Shipley has been good in short yardage situations. Mafah simply isn't that much better. I'm not trying to knick Mafah. I'm knocking the grass-is-greener-on -the-other-side mentality of done of the fans.

Remember last year how the problem was all DJ Uiagalelei, and everything would be fixed if we just played Klubnik? Remember how the problem would be fixed if we just fired Brandon Streeter? People just throw stuff against the wall, hoping it will stick. The truth is, if we started Mafah, the results would basically be the same as now.

Who cares about the last two years?

Mafah has passed Shipley this year. You play who is hot now. This season in stats and PFF grades and to the naked eye, Mafah is better than Ship, and he got a whopping 5 touches Saturday night.

I don't think this is a grass-is-greener situation.

Mafah is clearly a bruiser back. Shipley is now labeled by not just us tigerfans but the entire nation and NFL scouts as fumble prone.

Usually on short yardage you want the bus carrying the rock.

No one is saying it would solve all of our problems, but we would be better for it. Just like we are better with Cade now than we were with DJ.

litterally EVERY team knows that when Shipley is in the game

he will go right up the middle. Stack the box and get off the field.

No offensive imagination.

I’d like to see Shipley in a RB wheel route. Everyone we play seems to exploit our inability to cover it. Send him out, he’s not exactly the best blocker to chip the blitzing defenders.
