The boss will say, "I paid you well for doing what your job description outlined, winning fb games. I gave you bonuses for winning ACCG, and natties. In fact, I paid you so well that you are now one of the highest paid coaches in cfb. Now, my question is,"what have you done for me lately"? I don't want to hear about the past. The present is what i want to hear about and I want to know what you are going to do to fix your below standard job output that I am paying you to perform at the highest level?

past performance. You have large buyouts to keep coaches from leaving. Coaches leave because other teams are interested. Other teams are interested because of past performance.
And regarding “what have you done for me lately?” , he won 10 games, the ACC championship, and made the playoffs last year. You can’t get anymore lately than that.

OK, but what about even more lately... like this season. #4 preseason

and even got votes for #1. The most "complete" team in the country, with the most returning production. A veteran OL with a top notch coach. An experienced QB that was a fave for the Heisman and touted as maybe the #1 pick in the draft. The best WR room in the country. A defense full of 1st and 2nd round NFL talent, the best front 7 since 2018....
And we come out and play like dog crap.
edit: and a fiery new DC that was gonna have that uber-talented defense eating barbed wire and pooping nails.

But why even wait 4 games? Why not take action after one bad game? Or one bad half? One bad play even? Thesr coaches need to know there are consequences and we are watching.

we ain't playin no more. No, I'm just having a little fun. You gotta admit, this season is the biggest head scratcher ever. But Dabo has certainly earned the right to get things back on track. It won't be easy, next year might be tough. We lose a lot of talent off of this team...

Great question

10 wins ACC Championship College football playoff appearance
Are you asking a coach to restructure his pay based on that? If so, do you think it would be difficult to attract coaching talent if they know that this is how the athletic department operated? I know I wouldn’t take that job. Thankfully those in charge at Clemson operate more professionally.

10 wins. 4 losses. Dominated by UGA. Dominated by a less talented Louisville at home. Lost to your rival, scoring only 14 points at home. Best win was a 3 point victory against an SMU team that got dominated in the firstrouns of the playoff. Already 3 losses this season. Dominated twice at home. Got throttled by am average Syracuse team. At home

So you are going to restructure a contract mid season

based on what you just posted?
You’d have an hard time attracting a replacement coach if that’s what you are saying.

My friend's female boss ripped a nasty smelling fart when they were in a one on one meeting. It was silent but deadly. My friend called it a power move.
Maybe try that.

And when they question your declining performance, just remind them to be happy because sales are still higher than they were before you got there!
