I see he went RIP in March. He was my Geometry teacher at Chester High in 1963, and was an assistant football coach. He was a lot of fun, let the students run all over him.
Here is an interesting read on the 1957 Orange Bowl. It says Rivers caught the only TD that season.
From the obit -- "Rivers was a longtime teacher and coach at Lancaster High School and won a state championship there in 1959. Nearly two decades later, in 1976, he led Byrnes to a state title. He moved on to Broome and ended his career at Harlem High School in Georgia.
After retirement, Rivers raised champion beagles, hunted rabbits, watched the Atlanta Braves and spent time with his family."
