Either he has no clue what is going on or he was full of crap bc there is no way this offense looks like world beaters against our defense in practice and then comes out looking like they have all season in games.

Are you crazy? 2009 offense was much better than this squad in production. Kyle Parker had 2526 yards for 20 touchdowns and 12 picks. CJ Spiller had 1700 yards from scrimmage and 16 touchdowns. Jamie Harper and Andre Ellington added another 1000 and 8. That team was 28th in scoring offense, 74th in total offense, 40th in rushing offense, 19th in yards per rush, and 88th in passing offense. Not great.
But DJ is on track to have 1781 yards passing, 10 touchdowns, and 12 picks. If Shipley is okay, he'll have around 700 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns. The rest of the team rushing combined might have 700 yards and 3 touchdowns. This team is tied with 3 teams for 107th in scoring offense (6th worst of P5 teams), 115th in total offense (4th worst of P5 teams), 93rd in rushing offense, 79th in yards per rush, and 101st in passing offense. That is despite playing two terrible teams.
This is the worst offense statistically since 1976, when Clemson went 3-6-2 and didn't win a conference game. Clemson has had a top 30 offense for 15 of the years since the millennium. But this team is on pace to be tied with the worst defense Clemson has had since 1933. And with the #1 QB (who threw for more yards and TDs last year against ND than he has all season), a 5 Star running back, a number of 4 Star Backs, Three 5 Star Receivers and I think 4 highly ranked 4 Stars.

I expect him to say- listen, we’ve got a ton of potential, buts that’s all we have right now. We are still trying to get better every day.
I DONT expect him to say we’ve got 11 starters on the OL and then brag about how well the QB and WRs doing. That seems like a total head fake to the fan base at this point.
You can say he was trying to keep spirits high on the team if he knew. I think there’s a chance the coaches really thought this would be a great offense. Again- hard to know unless you’re at practice every day.

That's what Dabo said just last week. Dabo is a good man and a great coach but may be too soft on TE or maybe TE just isn't that good to start with. The offense is the reason we are failing. The defense was beaten into submission. Injuries started mounting and here we are. What a mess!

No, he’s a CEO head coach who built an elite program during the CFP era. He succeeds on the field based on identifying and hiring position coaches and coordinators that can develop players and formulate winning game plans. He fell asleep about the offense after Scott left. He’s made a poor hiring decision by promoting Grisham, and retaining Caldwell and Elliott. These things have come home to roost and now it’s the CEO’s job to clean up the mess.

What does Dabo do every year in bowl practice and in the spring... he talks up guys that haven’t played or produced much that/past season of how great they are doing and they are really pushing for serious playing time etc and then the season comes and we never see those guys. We heard about how good Trevion Thompson was for 4 years before he done anything meaningful at all and there’s been many others. I think he knew he was in trouble and was trying to talk them up because the offense especially DJ has no leadership and no confidence.

This may have been one of his most talented teams. This is not his best coaching staff. He will have to earn his pay making the needed changes later in the year. Firing Tony Elliott is going to be tough. He brought Tony to Clemson and groomed him to be a head coach. Unfortunately, Tony’s brand is seriously damaged now. The college football industry has suspected it since the LSU game. This year has confirmed it. Tony stayed too long for both himself and Clemson.
