Dabo replacement

Keep seeing a few who say we would be foolish to let Dabo go because who would we replace him with. That is losers mentality at best.

Truth is Dabo has never been a coach, not in the X and O way. Prior to NIL/Portal he was a good recruiter, was a planner and organizer. Now he is just lost, lost can be easily replaced.

The Dabo way is now hubris and ego , easily angered and always pointing to the past to justify. This has been evident for 4-5 years now, the slow degradation has now picked up steam and the program is headed off the rails.

So to the question of who will replace Dabo I would ask if CU is getting ROI on his product. If the answer is no then it is time for a change.

There are several coaches who would qualify to replace Dabo. Brent Key from Ga tech is the one that stands out to me.

My real point is we can get anyone to replicate this clown show for a lot less than $11M.

Anyone can replicate this clown show. Who thought a 64 year old guy IU hired would be the answer? You need to take off the knee pads.

Once again take off the knee pads. Title refers to those clutching their pearls Oh who will we get fools. I am saying we are not getting ROI with Dabo, once you figure that out you make a change.

I’m reading your dissertation on “Dabo replacement” and am wondering when you’re getting to the good part, the part where you discuss Dabo replacements.

Brent Key is GT graduate and he has no desire to leave there. And this name is based on one successful season so far.

I’ve always been a big Brent Key fan but who knows if his style would translate here. Besides, let’s not pretend GT are world beaters. They were lucky to beat a bad Clemson team and should have lost to WF and Duke.

It says fear of an unknown is loser thinking, I guess you are happy with the state of the football program?

The Dabo way is not going to get better, we keep it up and welcome to mid tier in the weakest conference. Sound good?

He has shown zero inclination to adapt to the NIL/Portal era. This only gets worse. Time to rip off the bandaid.

What college coach was fired for 70 million?
Franklin is owed more than $49 million, according to his contract. It's the second-biggest buyout in college football history behind only Jimbo Fisher's $76 million buyout from Texas A&M.
Dabo could take over second spot. To bad we cant use NIL money to start the process.
cut him and his staff loose and move on.other wise get used to the way things are now.

We don’t have 70 million in NIL money. The schools hat paid those big buyouts have the money to pay the buyouts, we don’t.

Besides the fact that I don't think that it's time to release Dabo, the fact of the matter is Clemson doesn't have the buyout money.

His contract runs through 2031 and has a buyout of ~11 million a year. Which means (likely) at least 2 more years are in play before Clemson is in the ballpark of paying the buyout.

That is plenty of time to sink the ship further OR to steady the ship and right the course. I sincerely hope for the second/better path.

B.I.N.G.O! I have said for years that the Clemson could not compete long term in the NIL era. Tom Winkopp can only put so many players on a billboard in Pendelton.

for $1M a game you are only as good as your last game...

it's past time...

I'd rather rebuild with someone new...

if he's the 'man' he says he is and tries to instill that ethos in others... he'd step down renegotiate his buyout and retire...New college football has passed him by

Dabos not the first coach thats taken a program to the top

for a handful of years and then orchestrated the demise of the same program. Clemson and Dabo were good for each other during the years at the top. We needed someone to make Clemson relevant again. We needed a marketing specialist.

Now we need a coach. Dabo seems to be hit or miss with coordinator hires. He has as many bad ones as good ones unless they have all been good on their own at other schools without Dabo meddling in their craft. Marketing doesn’t matter now. It’s about money, just like the NFL. We need someone that can coach the players for hire. We need a coach that adapts, not one that is determined to make a square peg fit into a round hole.

lol, you are one of those people who played sports as a kid who didn’t care whether you won or lost ,as long as someone’s mom handed out capri suns and cookies. I’m sure you know what coaching looks like.

Project much skippy? Truth is Dabo is not now nor has he ever been a X /O guy. He has gotten a case of the red butt over this and has actively inserted himself in a failed attempt to shown them, to the detriment of the team.

There will be several better jobs than Clemson open at seasons end that will pay what we’re paying Dabo. If Dabo left, we might be able to pluck a Tony Elliott or Fran Brown or maybe some coordinator.
