I realize that this is not a history board, but this is a day that must be remembered. I had the opportunity to visit Normandy and Omaha beach a few years ago. What I never realized before the visit, Omaha beach is not just a straight, long beach. It is shaped like a horseshoe. When the front of those landing craft dropped down our soldiers were faced with enemy fire from about 180 degrees.
When I think of those 18 to maybe 25 year old Americans, I wonder if our generation and todays younger generations could have done the same. I hope so.
Remember those who gave it all.
