Curious T-Net Phenomenon

May 18, 2012, 7:39 PM

I've been following T-Net closely over the past few weeks and watched this ongoing debate between York Tiger and DE Roberts and many other posters.

Interestingly, as the days and weeks have gone by and today the SEC announced bowl partnership with Big XII, the pro-ACC group has gotten more and more quiet. A few days ago York Tiger (with his "Dude" sources) was called out as a moron. Today T-Net posts are 20-1 that Clemson should leave ACC.

I'm still on the fence in understanding what's going to happen next or where Clemson's best affiliation should be. I know I will be a life-time Clemson booster no matter what our conference is, and while I'm waiting intently for the next shoe to drop, I am not calling anyone out on their sources. In the end, York Tiger may have been miles ahead of every one on this board and the national/regional media. Or maybe not?

Slive is looking pretty smart right now and Swofford must be punch drunk. This is pretty interesting and incredibly impactful discussion for the off season.

Here's the deal...

May 18, 2012, 7:47 PM

"The Dude" is not a source... I know people at OU and OKST. The interesting thing is, everything "Dude", Swaim, and other posts matches up with what I've been told, so I will link them for the board.

My guys don't blog or tweet or whatever.

If this doesn't go down for some reason, will I still trust my guys? Absolutely. You never say never in this... but as I type things, that is where it stands.

Many posters (droberts and Stanley) chose to attack me just for posting information. droberts went as far as to say he would bow at my feet if it were true...

No thanks...

What you are seeing is the new way news travels and breaks. Mainstream media guys are behind on this, bigtime.

You can't really blame the media for being behind.

May 18, 2012, 8:00 PM

I expect facts from media sources. That's how I judge their credibility.

They have reported the evidence we've discussed here but won't speculate like we. Yeah, they are a little stuffy most of the time.

I know what you're saying... but not sure I buy that...

May 18, 2012, 8:04 PM

Here's why...

I know for a fact people tried to get the media to do stories on this and investigate it. They told them it was happening, and to run it down.

These guys were told they were stupid, idiots, and it would never happen.

Chadd Scott... ACC writer out of Atlanta... bet one blogger $5000 that an ACC team would never leave for the Big 12.

Did your source(s) give a reason why VT wouldn't be a choice for Big 12, or even GT? I can't help but think that even the FSU and Clemson may be the most proactive at the moment about leaving, once the writing is on the wall there may be some other schools that start to show interest - possibly even UNC, who could join the SEC or Big 12 by simply making a phone call.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I only really know about Clemson... but I will say this...

May 18, 2012, 8:24 PM

both GT and VT are coveted (VT more)...

The feeling is that VT probably goes to the SEC. GT, originally, wanted no part of the Big XII, but they have warmed up a little more.

GT is talking to the Big 12. I can't speak for VT. Truthfully, VT will probably have their pick.

My gut tells me the SEC and Big XII are working together, especially with this new deal. The SEC tells the Big XII, "we're not taking FSU/Clem/GT/Miami... you guys get them. We want VT and NCST."

"Let's sign this huge deal, bring these teams in and we'll cripple the ACC together... making 4 power conferences"

That's how I think it's going down.

The interesting thing is....

May 18, 2012, 8:10 PM [ in reply to You can't really blame the media for being behind. ]

Before I was told anything, these bloggers were on it in January, reporting that FSU and Clemson were in talks.

After I heard a few things, I went back and checked, and they were all over it.

That's why I laugh now when people come on here and say things like... "i'll never believe a blogger" or "never trust someone called Dude"....

york, don't let people stop you from posting what you hear, that is what this board is all about. It is very disturbing when a Tiger turns on another Tiger for telling news that some don't want to believe.Just because you close your eyes and cover your ears, doesn't make things go away.

Two weeks ago I fought tooth and nail to remain in the ACC.

May 18, 2012, 7:57 PM

I gave every reason to stay I could conjure up, academics, integrity and rivalries. Every one of them we can take with us when we go. I have no doubt our BOT and President are doing everything they can to insure we are involved with one of the four conference that will remain when this butchering is finished.

I was approached by a friend and instructed to research the issue instead of being obstinate. It was not the first time I've been obstinate either.

York ... Three Questions

May 18, 2012, 8:34 PM

1) It seems like Slive is calling all the shots and is 10 steps ahead of the field. Would you agree with this assessment?

2) Is there any possibility Clemson could be left out of the party based on GaT, VaT, NC State, MD and even UNC interest in jumping ship and following the money? Or do you see a 1st come 1st serve situation?

3) How soon could this ACC Exodus begin?

Re: York ... Three Questions

May 18, 2012, 8:47 PM

1. I don't think Slive is calling all the shots. That doesn't make sense. He's a smart guy. I think he got together with Neinas and said "look, we know where this is going". What teams do we want to grab together. I think it was obvious for the Big XII to expand east, and the SEC to go after VT and NCST... nuking the ACC.

2. As I type this... there is not way Clemson gets left out of everything. We have an agreement in place.

3. Big XII meetings are in mid-end June. The new Big XII commish takes over mid June. I think that was the original timeline... but it may be accelerated now. My guess is anywhere from May 30 - mid July.

Sitting around saying " I will love my tigers always, southern conference , acc, or big 12.

Big deal! So will everyone here! I love my kids, that sure as heck doesnt mean that I don't want the best for them and fight for it!

Hell, if you do not care whre we play, then vote to get out opf the ACC. Just take a stand. Blindly following Swofford like his little biatch is not a Clemson thing to do,

There isn't any wiggle room for York on this - either we're

May 18, 2012, 8:51 PM

gone to the Big 12 and York was right, or we don't go and he was wrong.

He very well may have been miles ahead of everyone else on this, and if so, props to him. When he originally made his prediction, he would not discuss his sources (as far as I could tell), so for all we knew he was basing it entirely on "The Dude", his brother's sister's ex-boyfriends former boss, or tea leaves. I'd be just as skeptical in the same situation all over again.

York, I applaud you for the stance you have taken. Many people have questioned you and in return you have not backed down from your statement. A couple of weeks ago when I heard about the possible expansion, I thought that this was just another rumor and it will drag out, but since we have heard FSU people come out and talk about it in public. Which tells me that it is being discussed no matter what the President says. As far as Clemson goes, I'm about 80/20. The reason why is that you have heard nobody come out and talk about (except the BOT). I feel that Clemson is playing it on the down low. Clemson would be nuts to "not entertain the idea". College football is changing and today we have seen evidence of that. The ACC is already behind the 8 ball and I don't see it catching up anytime soon. As you say, "You Never say Never" but lets face it...it looks doom. As a OU student/fan, I would be thrilled to have both FSU and Clemson in the conference. I think both can add to the conference and help make it one of the best in the country. I have not heard anything like you have heard. I talk to some people that are real close to the program and they have not mentioned it. There could be a couple of reasons for that is that..either they are not that close to the program (in regards to matters like that) or they have promised not to mention anything about it due to their sources trust. I know many OU fans would love to have both in the conference. No matter why these Presidents or BOT members say, I won't beleive its over until the end of the summer. Nebraska, Mizzou, and aTm all make these statements before and in a matter of weekes or months they were gone.

BOOMER SOONER!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

York, I appreciate your sharing what you were hearing,

May 18, 2012, 10:12 PM [ in reply to Remember.. I wasn't the first to post it on here.... and ]

whether you were first or not; but you really stayed with it and the way you presented it called for a healthy dose of skepticism. Also, you did more or less say never; you said "Clemson to the Big 12 . . . it's not an opinion". In other words, it's a fact. Then you went on to say "it's done . . . we're gone". You can't come back now and say "never say never . . . anything can happen". You said it has already happened, and you'll either be proven right or wrong.

If you have a real connection or source whom you trust, I'd trust that (if I knew about it) over a random blogger, and I appreciate you sharing that kind of info with the rest of us. It's the way you presented it that bothered me. If you are proven right, I won't bow at your feet, but I'll certainly acknowledge it.
