Crisis

I have a family member who may not qualify into Clemson and now she is looking at Scar. This pains my heart. If only she would have studied harder! The thought of her going to the second rate school makes me want to puke.

Your only angle now is the bridge program. Any one know the schools who offer this. Tri County was the only one for awhile but there are more now. Not sure which schools though.

Very true. The bridge program weeds out kids who are not really committed to attending Clemson and those that can't handle the college environment. I had several friends who did the bridge program and I don't think I know a single one who didn't graduate once they made it to Clemson. I will say that the Tri-county program may be the best test of a students ability to handle college because of the proximity to Clemson and ability to attend Clemson functions while going to class at Tri-county.

You can't "apply" to the Bridge Program, though

I'm not sure how Clemson issues invitations to the Bridge Program or on what timetable, but it seems like they would have made that offer in the rejection/waitlist letter. The only way to get into the Bridge Program is to be invited; you can't request or apply for it.

Seems convoluted on the website.

Sounds like you apply to CU. Get rejected. Go to Tri County. Perform well. then get invited after you let them know you want to be considered. but you have to had applied to CU in the first place.
I honestly have no idea.

Everyone I know who did the program received a sudo acceptance to Clemson provided they took part in the bridge program. Instead of getting a full acceptance letter they received another letter that outlined how to enroll in the bridge program. It is also easier to get into Clemson through a transfer program, so even if you don't do the bridge program you can always take a semester/year and re-apply. Just make sure you talk to Clemson first to make sure your credits will transfer.

Some years ago a friend of mine's son had a similar situation. The dad was a legacy and a former member of the golf team. He wound up with his older son at Clemson and the younger at USCjr. He was heartsick.

So why don't you suggest Coastal,or Wofford,or maybe Anderson University. Of course she could go a Tech school and maybe get her grades up. So don't get sick just yet. Or here is another idea.Let her go to USC for a year( or two at worse),get her grades up then transfer to Clemson. Then she could proudly boast that the state University system helped her get a degree from Clemson and she would not necessarily have to give "full" credit to that school in cootlumbia.

Regardless of the outcome, she is fortunate to have the opportunity to further her education. Tell her to study hard and make the most out of it.
All is not lost. If she is lucky, maybe she'll marry a Clemson guy.

The family members who are coots are hoping she moves to Columbia. Of course none of them have college degrees.

Students that qualify for the bridge get a letter instead of a rejection from Clemson letter. If she has not gotten that then she did not get into the bridge either. You don't just enroll at tri-county and be considered bridge. Trust me son just got his bridge acceptance on SAT

she got a full scholarship to Murray State (we live in KY) but she is still a big Clemson fan. She wears her orange on campus all the time. additionally, many people have gone to Scar and gone on to live full, productive lives. You can still be a Clemson tiger in your heart, even if you have to attend Scar.
