Why would Link Jarrett take FSU job after they fired his roommate

and best friend from college after only 2 seasons (Covid year).
Remember when Clemson fired Leggett, all of Leggett’s friends/colleagues wouldn’t even interview.
FSU didn’t even give Martin a chance. I’m not sure Link would want to walk into that situation.

You make a fair point. No way to tell for sure until it plays out but I agree it’s too early for fans to simply write him off

I would imagine Martin Jr would encourage Jarrett to take job

instead of playing the whiny victim like Leggett did. A real friend would want another friend to be successful and pull for his alma mater to improve.

I would think hiring Jarrett would be just like rehiring the Martin family. The coaching philosophies would be way similar. I think FSU is looking for a change.

FSU caught wind of Jarrett being the top target for Clemson for and they reacted...Thats why...He will go to FSU over Clemson...zero doubt...We have a hard time realizing that we dont have the biggest d*cks on the playground...

If he goes to FSU, it’s because he will be returning

to his home school, etc not some perception of FSU trajectory and tradition in baseball vs Clemson. Although I’m sure he would run his mouth about such in a press conf. as any new coach would to try to sell his program. FSU has a whopping 82-72 advantage over Clemson in baseball. They have never won a NC and lived off getting to host regionals to make it to Omaha while they ran roughshod over the metro etc.. Clemson actually has a better record against them than Miami who I consider the better historical program of the 3 as they have closed the deal multiple times. Although they are all considered historically great jobs. The scholarship limits on baseball have presented the biggest shift in baseball on what you are able to accomplish at certain schools. This brought a wave of new elites to the table making it harder on all the traditional powers to enjoy the success they had in the past. Both Clemson and FSU have had problems swallowing this reality for quite some time IMO - both from a fan and administration perspective. I expect that to continue to be the case though NIL opportunities offer an opportunity to reshuffle the deck yet again. Ultimately I think Jarrett goes to FSU but it will be with the Martin family blessing and because he is going “home” not because of some program difference and certainly not because of $ as FSU is run from an AD budget standpoint about like Maryland was.

I would think Mr. Jarrett has his family and career to think of. Friends are great but family comes first.

The same reason Dabo took the job after Tommy was fired. Some differences, for sure. But, also some similarities.
1. Tommy got Dabo back into coaching after he had left it to go into real estate devgelopment. 2. Tommy and Dabo were good friends, both strong Christians.
Dabo has shared in the past that he was concerned about taking the job and talked to both Tommy and Bobby about it. He wanted them both to understand that he had nothing to do with Tommy being fired and was in no way trying to stab Tommy in the back. Both were very supportive of him and gave him their best wishes.
I suspect if Link takes the job he will have had the same conversation with Mike Martin Sr. and Jr.
