Would anybody else on this board trade a consistent top 5 football team, with national title hopes every year in exchange for not having a basketball program?

Why can't you have both? Florida did.
National championships in football in 2007 and 2009, and back to back NCAA Final Four championships in 2006 and 2007.

would be an admission that we aren't willing to make a strong, major commitment toward our program...and that would be a colossal mistake IMO.

I guess you don't realize that BASKETBALL is the ONLY major sport that we have beat our in-state rival in the PAST FOUR YEARS. FOUR FREAKING YEARS - ONE WIN. That works out to be 1-11 if anyone is counting. ONE freaking win in TWELVE attempts. SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!
btw: I count the baseball losses based on the series - not the individual games. I know we won a couple of games in baseball. That said - the count is probably worse since they beat us in Omaha too. Did they beat us in a Regional too? Then it's even worse.

i dont see why we cant have both either. weve had some pretty good basketball teams in the past. i remember the tree rollings, larry nance, horace grant, elden campbell and dale davis teams were good. them teams could win some games. dont see why we cant get that excitment back. just need to get a few really good players then get the crowd to come then maybe more great players will follow
