Complaining about legacies similar to complaing about D-Rod

Jan 8, 2015, 2:57 PM

Complaining about legacy recruits is kind of like complaining about D-Rod not being a 4 or 5 star recruit. Anyone want to complain about D-Rod?

I believe the staff knows what is good for the program as a whole, and if a few legacy recruits help keep the family happy and intact then I am all for it. Have a little faith.

Actually...you'll probably find a number of people who

will complain about D-Rod now.

Fair enough - about him as a person, but not his impact on

the program. Only my opinion...

This may not be the best arguement

Daniel Rodriguez is not very popular around here.

D Rod is an absolute non issue in the legacy scholarship argument. He didn't come to Clemson on an athletic related scholarship, nor has he ever received an athletic scholarship. His time at Clemson was paid by the G I Joe Bill....

You miss the point

Recruiting should NOT be about keep a legacy family "happy" or "intact". Every player should be evaluated on his own, in a vacuum far removed from anything their mom or dad did at the school.
But I agree that too many fans see only a recruits star rating and don't bother to find out any thing about their potential.
Time will tell whether or not these players deserved coming to Clemson.
Go Tigers!!

I agree totally that NO kid should ever be afforded an athletic scholarship because of anything their parents, family member, or employee has done at Clemson. If we have unused athletic scholarships, use them up on players that you feel may take longer to develop b/c they are a raw talent, Diamond in the bush type!!!

D-Rod also didn't use up a scholarship for our team

The GI bill was paying his way, so he was just a walk-on… May not be the best example there

These are the minutiae we complain about...

when we've won 10 games for 4 seasons in a row.
