Comey power hungry?

Sep 8, 2017, 8:35 PM

For those with WSJ access, what do you think? It seems very politically motivated for the WSJ if you ask me.

Did you even read it?

Since you didn't, it talks about how Comey wielded his power to create the Trump dossier. It wasn't about Trump at all.

But hey, it's football season, so I shouldn't be posting on the politics board anyway.

I could only read the 1st part of it.

No matter what happened, Comey was between a rock and a hard place. 100% of the prosecutors at DOJ said they'd never get a conviction on Clinton (i still think she should have been charged tho.)

When Loretta Lynch met with Bill on the tarmac, Comey had to go public with the truth about Clinton. Even if un-indicted, he slammed Clinton. Otherwise it would have all looked like a cover-up an make the FBI compicit. I think he went public (as he said) to protect the reputation of the FBI expressly because the Attorney General, Lynch, was so obviously biased in favor of Clinton.

Unfortunately for Comey, his going public without indicting put his own asz on the grill from both sides. He cared more for the FBI's reputation and was willing to take the heat.

Comey's investigation of Trump was a no brainer since the Intelligence Community all agreed that the Russians had tried to influence the election.

If people, particularly right leaning outlets like the WSJ, want say he was power hungry, so beat it. These are the exact same people that applauded him for going public on Clinton.

I don't see that there's much to see here. The Steele Dossier originated with Republican's trying to get dirt on Trump. That's how it originated. Steele himself made the Intelligence Community aware of what he was finding.

Of course the right is going to cast doubt on the Dossier.
