first team from the state of South Carolina to ever play in the Rose Bowl, well not the Bowl itself but the stadium...that according to their play by play announcers on the Chanticleer radio network in the postgame show after tonight's TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl...playing UCLA in first game next season, should be a nice trip out to the left coast and a nice payday at least...Hopefully one day soon we will see the Tigers out there Cali playing not just in the stadium but the Granddaddy of them all The Rose Bowl

Coastal Carolina playing UCLA sounds strange. But why not? I agree with you. Would love to see Clemson playing some new teams. Still would love to see the Tigers at Michie Stadium against the Black Knights of Army. Probably will never happen. If we did play a military school, it would probably be in Death Valley, which would also be cool.

Well, technically the Rose Bowl has been played in two other locations that Clemson has played in. The Rose Bowl was played in Duke Stadium, Durham, North Carolina (1942) and AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas (2021).

The current tie-ins of the Rose are with the Pac12

and Big10 unless it's a preselected site of the CFP games.

Given the history and pagentry, I'd like to see the Rose expand its tie-ins on a rotating basis with the P5's, so that teams from the SEC, ACC and Big12 could participate. I think the TV appeal, as well as fan support, would be enormous. I know it's been UCLA's home field for 40 years, but the Rose is the Rose, and all others pale in comparison to its prestige!

They’ll have to change something. There won’t be a PAC12 in 10 years.

Grew up there, been to a few Rose Bowls, very overrated. Worst venue to watch a game in the country. “Granddaddy of them all” is like most things in Hollyweird total hype. UCLA plays most of its games in front of a half filled stadium. The other relic that has been an anchor to LA Sports is the Coliseum, built as a track venue and it’s terrible for football. I never appreciated college football until I moved to the South. Give me a game in Clemson any day.

Same place we played when we played them in the '60s. LA Memorial Coliseum.

Coots played at Southern Cal in 1980 and the return game was in Columbia in 1983.

I have heard it is a cool place to be, but a bad place to watch a game. Pretty cool story that you grew up there and never appreciated college FB until you came to the South.

once for a concert and the second time for a stadium tour. While it is recognized as a national historic landmark and it has hosted nearly every major sporting event in the history of competitive athletics, including "The Granddaddy of Them All", it is really just the stadium's illustrious history that makes it special. Otherwise, the place is kind of a dump and the traffic/parking is atrocious. It is outdated, the seats are small and uncomfortable, there are not enough restrooms, too few amenities, and the concessions they do offer require long walks/waits. Don't get me wrong, it is one of the coolest stadiums in sports, and if you haven't had a chance to visit, I would certainly recommend doing so (at least once). However, there are countless other, better, stadiums across the country.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
