Give me a f.king break. He could’ve offered the money to keep this stupidity out of the press, because obviously the press has no more awareness than an eight year old.
Why would you post this bull.shyt?

It's a horrible contract for Cleveland. It's Cleveland being Cleveland. Just stupid contract. They were out of the running. They came back in with stupidity leading the way. DW is a great QB . . but the contract is stupid!!

disappointed in Deshaun for making this move based on money. It looks like he wanted the title of highest paid player ever, and he didn't do his homework on quality of life in Cleveland. Big mistake, imo.

Cleveland is never the best team to sign with. As an organization, they are a mess. And sure they got DW, but they dug a hole so deep

to not take $230 million guaranteed. I'm not disappointed in him at all for this, especially when you consider the Browns have a (close to) championship roster. The Falcons are far from that.
Where I AM disappointed is him saying money had nothing to do with the decision. That was a clear lie that nukes his credibility. All he had to say was all things figured into it.
Just my 2 cents.

let's just say it was hypothetically $200 million. When you have enough money to guarantee generations to come, what do you need another $30 million for? You can invest $200 million and never have to worry about a thing ever again.
Cleveland is horrible. When there are other "similar" offers in places with a much better quality of life, that, to me, means note than extra money which isn't even necessary.

where he told the Browns they were out of the running and they came in at the last minute to change his mind from the Falcons.
How did the Browns change his mind after being told to get lost?
By offering him something "similar" to the Falcons with only ~$30 million additional?
or
By offering a contract that was NOT similar to what he had, such as more money AND guaranteeing 100% of it?
Also, while I share your opinion about Cleveland, not everyone does. Plus, it isn't as if he's going to live there the rest of his life (or even in the off-season). He's got enough money to live wherever he wants.

I've been to Cleveland. I was there last week.
It's kind of like Detroit is right now. Some of it's still a hole. After the '80's so much of Cleveland and Detroit (and the Rust Belt) tanked because so many manufacturing and steelworker jobs went away. Urban blight, poverty, whole areas hollowed out, economically. That area got crushed, almost across the board.
Both are in big booms now. Still a ton of rough patches in both cities but developers love those towns now because there is so much affordable property and so much room to both invest and get stuff done...which is almost impossible in a lot of US cities. (Whatever your politics, sorry, incessant liberal activism and constant suits against any project anybody tries makes building anything in most big cities almost require an act of Congress to achieve. That just isn't the case right now in the Rust Belt, where there's so much urban blight there's enormous community cooperation to restore the areas.)
A lot going on, in both cities. And people from both towns seem to like living there, despite the issues. Lot of positive momentum both places. They're actually talking about this truly massive multi-billion-dollar 25-to-30-year plan for completely renovating their downtown from the lake to the river...it's maybe the biggest-scale possible renovation project any town in America is considering, actually.
If there's a town in America to invest in for the future, it might actually be Cleveland.

Really? Why do you want Clemson fans to live in denial?
I disagree with some Tiger fans about almost everything but I'd never try to hide news stories from them. We all have the right to know these developments that are not an invasion of privacy.

(Now this is only my opinion, nothing more): Thing is, whether it was 23, or 22 or 7 cases as originally reported these cases need to be resolved. Now, maybe it's only one, which could be nothing more than a bad decision on DeShaun's part, but anything over 2 then it is partial his fault and guilty or not $100,000 would be a slap in the face ,IMO. Now if you care to add 3 more 0's to the equation, then girls, that's the final offer. Take it or leave or take it to court. Who knows maybe ESPN will cover it like the networks did during the O.J. trial.

Walking into a used car lot and asking the salesman about the possibility of purchasing a new car from his lot. If DeSean is guilty of what his accuser's are alleging, they should be awarded, in total, this free advice from the judge: "Boo ephing hoo, even if you were legit MTs (& not prideful prostitutes masquerading as such); get over it and quit acting like spoiled, entitled b!+ches. Now get out of my courtroom immediately, except for the three of you I scheduled the "group" massage with...case dismissed on the grounds(trifling b!+chez)".

change the way they do contracts. ALL the money on EVERYBODY'S contract should be guaranteed, just like it is in the NBA and MLB. This should only have an injury caveat, which would allow a prorating to be done.

Gtd contracts across the board unlikely. 100%Injury rate another obstacle, if contracts can be voided for 1. Also, roster size nearly doubles in the off season-(53, 90)

But in hindsight, I’m really glad it didn’t happen. It wasn’t worth that huge contract, especially since it makes it nearly impossible to build a good team around him. Plus, we don’t know when all of his legal issues will be behind him and he will be able to play.
Cleveland made a bad deal IMO.

Despite his legal problems, what makes any of you think he cannot be an All Pro again, considering he did it with the Texans. Get the legal problems out of the way and the Browns may have found a good QB.

Its becoming painfully obvious that the NFL is going to keep this young man from ever taking a snap in tbe league again. The game wi pass him by. He needs to be playing. I dont think he get a chance until the 2023 season. At the earliest.

Even still, I don’t think the amount Cleveland is paying him is worth it. It’s guaranteed money and there is no guarantee that his legal troubles will be over soon.
