Ripley's Believe it or Not -- Football Edition

Who has the funniest, but true football story they've heard?
I was a BB/BKB coach & I had a kid from Charlotte back in the early '90s that was about 6'-4" and 230 as a 9th grader. He was as liable as to shoot a 25' 3-pointer as he was to do a tomahawk dunk over anyone, but he couldn't remember any of the plays because he had a learning disability.
On to football--he was a monster on both offense & defense, but again, he couldn't learn any of the plays or schemes. The coaches had to get him on the field because he was just so talented. On defense, he was put at MLB and given 1 rule: GO GET THE BALL. On offense, they put him at tailback as he ran the 40 in about 4.4 seconds. NO LIE NOW--the coaches put colored ribbons on the back of the linemens pants and told him to "RUN RED" or "RUN GREEN" and he would know where to blast over anyone in his way.
I have no idea what became of this guy, but he was something else...greatest kid & talent, but just had a bad situation academically.

have gotten his bell rung but good. After the play he got up and tried to huddle up with the other team and they push him over to our huddle.
Somebody says "John are you okay?" he responded with: "Mommy are we having mash potatoes with dinner tonight?". Timeout was immediately called!
Circa 1973-4.

My school was pretty good; we ran the wishbone and a real tough 5-3 Oklahoma D so it was going to be a huge mismatch for sure. I was a TE but our coach made everyone kind of play out of position to make it more fair. I played a stand up DE that day and they had a kid that was at most about 120lbs with a really poor stance trying to block me. I would just push him and he'd fall backwards on his butt like he was sitting down. I sacked the QB everytime he tried to pass.
The funny thing was that they had one big really tough dude who was an OT. If they ran the ball right he lined up at RT if they ran left he was the LT. 3rd and short and he lined up at fullback. He beat the crap out of our DTs and nose guard; I barely broke a sweat. Hilarious day.

We had a kid on our team that NEVER got to play. He was slow, not to mention he wasn't fast. He was kinda' like human pudding. His name was Keith.
We always thought he made the team just because we had an extra uniform. But he always showed up and his parents were at every game.
Again, he never got on the field until one night when his Grandparents came in from out of town and were at the game, I guess to see him in his uniform. We were destroying our opponent and all of us literally begged our coach to put Keith in the game.
So, coach did just that. When Keith walked onto the field you would have thought that his parents and grandparents were going to lose their voices screaming his name...Keith, Keith, Keith, Pudding, Keith.
First play...Keith gets run over...knocked out cold. I mean the kind of knocked out where you think someone is dead.
You could have heard a gnat fart.
What I remember most is his leg twitching we he started regaining his senses...and us guys got tickled for some reason. We were all putting our helmets back on so people couldn't see us trying not to laugh.
Then, the coach blamed us because we begged him to put Keith in.
Later, I felt so sorry for his Grandparents.
But I got over it.

I was playing in a game where the punter actually kicked such a low line drive that it hit his guard in the back while he was still on the line of scrimmage. The ball ricocheted back about 8 yards and the punter fell on it at that point. Only time I have ever witnessed a punt for negative yards.
