Clemson trivia that very few know

The year was about 1984. In the pic below the 2nd girl from the right. Her name is Cathy Anderson. She is the one who said, during cheer practice one day, that the cheerleaders should spell out Clemson at the end of Tiger Rag. They tried it the next game and it caught on. She grew up in Clemson and I assume went to Daniel high school. She was my brother's main squeeze while he attended CU.

Yeah that was a great game. We were right behind her head based on what the scoreboard reads. Was so hoping they’d get to 90. Hard for me to say that wasn’t the greatest team ever... I remember not being able to talk for a week after the jawja game that year. Might be the loudest I’ve ever heard that stadium from start to finish... and worth every penny. Dadgum I love Clemson.

Hearing 80,000(+/-) voices belt out C-L-E-M-S-O-N at the end of Tiger Rag is (to me) as iconic as the team running down the hill.
Kudos to young Ms Anderson for her creation!

This picture made me get an old TAPS (1982) off the shelf for the first time in decades. As an 81 grad, I was at the game (four and half year plan so I graduated in December 1981 and was on campus for the whole season).
The girls shown are the Varsity cheerleaders. I recognized them and remembered a few names. They certainly have ZERO recollection that I was on campus at the same time.
Dang, I am old. Not as old as some of you, but older than most.

Bollwinkles I became good friends with Devo and Ray Brown. It was good seeing them together at the celebration in Death Valley after our National Title in 2016.
Mark Richardson and Jeff Stockstill were also regulars at Bollwinkles.

Thank you for the memory - I was there playing the quads (only one set of quads back in the day) and I remember that day like it was yesterday.
Those cheerleaders where awesome and Ricky Capps was one of the greatest Tiger mascots - ever!
Back then, Tiger Band provided all the music and cheers and drum cadences (none of that piped in stuff).
Man, that was a great time. Thanks again...

A real cutie. She was a cheerleader at Daniel too.
There were a bunch of Anderson's at Daniel then, I
think all related somehow, brothers and sisters or
cousins. Bill Foster's 2 daughters were there too,
Leslie was in our class. Can't believe that's been
38 years ago, sometimes seems like yesterday, sometimes
seems like a lifetime ago.

The year was 1983 when they 1st spelled out Clemson, my freshman year. They taught us at the amphitheater during a pep rally. And Bollwinkles... 35cent can beer on Thursdays, awesome!
