Remember when Clemson moving to the SEC was a done deal? At least according to some on here. Now that seems like a lifetime ago. The SEC doesn't like Clemson geographically, the Big Ten doesn't like Clemson academically. Both both were interested, perhaps, in Clemson as a national power. That is slipping away. So it's not just one bad season. This skid Clemson is on likely will keep Clemson out of the Big Two. And in the future, the ACC will likely be regulated to an outside conference like the G5 is now. This is why winning is so important.

If & when…..more ‘when’ expansion occurs, Clemson, FSU, UNC and UVA will be attractive universities to the Big 10 and/or the SEC.

Dabo is having a pretty easy time of managing 3-9 in the ACC. At least we would have more exciting home games than the pathetic ACC that doesn't travel to away football games.

By this ol logic Norvell would be killing it in the SEC but has struggled with the ACC mightily.
An extra 20+ million a year, and not covering up this awful home stand we get every year and being able to say we're in the league of the best on best helps with recruiting a ton in this pay for play era.
I also remember hearing it year after year about how bama was going to kill us every time we played and we went 2-1 in national title games against them.

The way we played this year....the Southern Conference would be a fantastic destination....A lot less travel for away games...No more payouts for lesser teams coming to the Valley and the best part is that we would not be anyone's homecoming opponent at least in the very near future!!!

Clemson is ranked higher than a handful of BIG10 schools in academic rankings and we have a clear plan towards being an AAU institution already in place outside of athletics (nebraska was not AAU when they joined)
Clemson/FSU as a pair would absolutely make the BIG10 a national conference from coast to coast.
NBC/CBS have been very disappointed with their BIG10 games. Cuse @ Clemson outdrew the CBS game and the NBC game despite it being on ESPN.
It's a cherry on top the fact we've already got it in place to have a home and home with ND for like a decade.
The schools aren't the one who get the final word these days, it's the TV partners. And the TV partners see week in week out for the last 15 years on how Clemson has been a leading ratings draw in college ball.
Now on the flip side you could ask would ABC/ESPN if they want their biggest competitor setting up shop with a major brand in the heart of their territory or if it's worth it continuing to double down on the south being college football country and keeping the regionality alive. Clemson vs LSU was a major ratings draw this year. Clemson has natural / historic rivals with UGA, Scar. Clemson vs Florida / Tennessee would quickly become big close rivalries as well.
Odds are we'd have to take our medicine like Maryland/Oregon/Washington has and join for a half share for a while, but thats the price you pay for getting on the last chopper out of Vietnam.

SEC is really the only option, the Big 10 requires Universities to have an AAU Accreditation (Association of American Universities). They have never taken a school into the league without this accreditation, Nebraska had it when they joined the league, but are now in the process of getting it back. The only ACC schools that have the AAU are Georgia Tech, Duke, Miami, ND, Pitt, UNC and Virginia.
