Clemson strikes out 16 times and wins.

My wife and I left going into the bottom of the 9th. If Clemson was going to lose this game, I didn't want to see it. On the way out, going past the right field where the standing crowd posts the opponents' Ks, I asked a man how many times Clemson had struck out. Answer: "We don't know. We ran out of signs after the 5th inning."

Curious. Why go to a game then leave before it’s decided?

Especially when it’s so tight it could go either way.

I can empathize with not wanting to be exposed to extreme fan abuse in Columbia when they win, but if that’s the case, it’s safer just to stay home.

Because Clemson struggled so much the entire game and did not get its first lead until top of the 9th. It would have been really emotionally bad to then lose and worse to sit there and watch it.

16 strikeouts, 3 batters HBP (including lead-off batter bottom of the 9th), 3 wild pitches/passed balls, and several walks. It must improve once conference play starts with 5 teams in top 10. SC is only moderately good. Four hits.
