Daniel Hall Renovations and Construction

I see Clemson is renovating Daniel Hall. They are also adding an additional building adjacent to it.
Does anyone on the board remember watching plays in the old auditorium on the bottom floor of Daniel Hall? I saw a bunch of good productions in the early 80's.

It is attached to kinard which has theater type seating..

Is that what you are thinking of?

Wait wait.
Now I think about it.. I do recall watching a romeo and juliet ...there.

I think I recall a walkway between Kinard and the Daniel Auditorium.

The Clemson Players used to have their theatrical plays there. Never attended, but remember seeing the signs outside.

Clemson Players

I was in the Clemson Players (1976-80)....had a couple of lines in a few plays, mostly did backstage work.

Typically, the Players did 2 shows in the fall and 2 in the spring. Each show ran for a week, opening on Tuesday night and playing through Saturday. Students got in with their activity cards, the general public paid about $5 I think.

There was usually one big musical production, a couple of plays by famous playwrights, and one show that was a premier or had not had much play time.

And yes, they were in the Daniel Hall auditorium. I don't remember how many seats but I would guess around 150-200. Some classes met in the auditorium.

This was before Clemson had a real theatre department as they do now. Directors were usually English professors who taught a couple of classes in acting and directing.

Good times, great way to meet lots of folks...still friends with some after all these many years.
