Clemson and FSU

Sep 21, 2014, 10:10 PM

Your loss last night was a bitter pill to swallow. You outplayed us almost everywhere except the scoreboard. FSU was lucky to win, but FSU expected to win, and like Fisher said "knows how to win" as evidenced by 19 in a row.

It's easy to understand the unbridled hatred many of your fans have for Winston. He's the ACC's nemesis, and if he is not dismissed from the team for some future incident, his plans are to return for the 2015 season. Regardless, next year at your house should be a great game.

Good luck the rest of the year. If your teams plays with the intensity it had last night and avoids the correctable mistakes, the Tigers could/should go undefeated the rest of the way.

Appreciate the Clemson comments, but I'll be surprised if Winston doesn't jump to the NFL after this year. That's assuming that the NFL is willing to take a chance on his lack of character/integrity.

I personally hold zero hatred for JW but have much concern for him and the purported victim(s) in his wake. Equally concerning were the 50 or so camera shots of him during the game AFTER his pre-game warmup appearance IN UNIFORM against the (supposed) instructions from his coaches. Jameis' alleged rape seems credible to me and it appears that entire investigation was fixed. I'll be pleasantly surprised if his future isn't a constant #$%#storm of bizarre acts and behavior- this guy redefines "loose cannon".

I do not hate Winston. I respect his athletic ability. I detest the fact that Fisher allows him to act like the thug he is.

He might have done some pretty detestable stuff, but...

the guy's hardly a thug.

Define thug: "a violent person, especially a criminal."

Sep 21, 2014, 10:47 PM

Interesting, I had no idea rape wasn't violent.

Soccer, if he did rape that gal, he should be hanged by the neck until he expires. I'm glad Dabo has stated that ANY abuse of women will not be tolerated. Next to murder and child molestation, it is the most detestable form of violence on the planet. I would hope the TPD will fully investigate this....b/c it doesn't appear they did anything but protect a football superstar.

Re: Define thug: "a violent person, especially a criminal."

Sep 21, 2014, 11:08 PM

The only problem I have with the whole domestic abuse stuff is that it's always assumed to be the man being the violent one. I know more than one guy who has been arrested defending himself from a violent female partner. I myself have been punched in the face by a drunk ex girlfried. There are plenty of violent women out there, and the worst of it is, if they know you don't dare strike back, they think they can get away with it. Just saying, it ain't a one way street.

Re: Define thug: "a violent person, especially a criminal."

Sep 21, 2014, 11:10 PM

Agreed, BUT rape is not the type domestic violence you described. Rape is Rape. It is not the woman hit you and you hit her back a lot harder. There is a huge difference. It is comparing apples and Pizzas.

Well I wasn't talking about the Winston case in particular, but about the whole issue being in the spotlight with football players. But yeah, you're right.... I've never been raped by a woman. You can't rape the willing.

then you report it to the police just like a woman does. Many women have been arrested for domestic violence.

The thing is ...most men will not report it as DV because they are embarrassed to let others know a women committed DV on him.

Re: Define thug: "a violent person, especially a criminal."

Sep 21, 2014, 11:20 PM

You're right 250, I should have reported it, but didn't. But the thing is, in states like SC that have the "mandatory arrest" law for DV, all my g/f would have had to do was say I hit her too, and they'd have arrested both of us. They wouldn't need evidence like bruises or anything. The mandatory arrest laws take all discretion away from the officers.

Re: Define thug: "a violent person, especially a criminal."

Sep 21, 2014, 11:33 PM

Only if there is physical evidence is the arrest mandatory for DV. In your case, you would have had red marks from a punch in the face and she would have had none. You leave the room, call the police and don't let her hear you call. That way, she more than likey would not have punched herself to make marks before police arrived.

I guess one could argue that if the victim was drugged to the point of being unconscious it is "not violent."
Rape is a forcible felony that deadly force is justified to be used to prevent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Does Winston strike you as particularly violent?

Sep 21, 2014, 11:21 PM [ in reply to Define thug: "a violent person, especially a criminal." ]

We're talking about somebody who might have taken advantage of an intoxicated girl and who shop lifted crab legs, not somebody who's going around beating people up.

It seems like the knee-jerk label a lot of people use for just about any problematic black person is "thug."

Watson played H.S. ball close to where I live. For all I know, he is a fine young man. My favorite QB of all time is Woodrow Dantzler, so don't try to tell me I do not like black quarterbacks.

Rape is rape. A thief is a thief.

Re: Does Winston strike you as particularly violent?

Didn't say you had a problem with black people or black QBs, just that I get tired of people calling any troubled/ problematic black person a "thug" no matter what they've actually done. Not that Richard Sherman is all that comparable to Winston, but people called him a thug just for running his mouth.

I call young white criminals thugs as well.
To me, the word has no racial meaning. It describes behavior and not color.

What do you have to do to be a thug?
There is pretty good evidence he is a rapist.
There is even better evidence he is a thief.
If that does not qualify one to be a "thug," what does?

Thanks for the kind words, Nole. I'm going to have to agree with the others, though.....I doubt seriously Winston stays in college if the scouts tell him the NFL will draft him highly. In light of recent events, I can see teams being leery of a kid with his penchant for finding trouble. I'm proud that Clemson holds our players to a high moral standard. In the end, it matters far more than athletic ability. That eventually fades....character does not.

Screw you and all the scumbag FSU fans. I liked you better when you were a girl's school instead of a training academy for thugs going to the NFL. You people have no shame, and you did not find a way to win, Clemson gave you the game. And you should win lots of games, the only teams on your schedule that are worth a crap are Clemson and Florida. Too bad you didn't leave the ACC instead of Maryland!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, it is difficult to have the team play such a game and walk away knowing they could have won if they had not committed any one of the several mistakes near the goal line.
You guys should do great the rest of the season and hopefully another NC.

...and as such a good chunk of football fans (not just Clemson) believe the guy is a bad representative of your university, college football and everything that is good and decent on this earth. Hopefully, he changes his ways as he's easily one of the more talented QB's I've seen in years.

p.s. You're welcome for the gift. Enjoy!
