offense, no blocking, and a playbook that looked the same as the previous two years. But we managed to rationalize that away at the time.

To be fair, we had to play with walk on receivers in the Spring Game. We sat much of the first team D line for minor injuries or we know what we have there. But the O line. It was as bad or worse than expected. Basically the same group that has struggled mightily the year prior minus their best lineman that now plays for the Chargers (J McFadden). Almost all first team O lineman that played where totally whipped by 2nd and 3rd team D lineman. You knew then what was coming. I thought we had the worst RG of any power 5 team based on PFF ratings (and film) but sadly, after injury, his back up is struggling as well. Guess the coaches knew that although Mayes was rated as the #2 tackle in the country out of HS, that he just isn't very good. LT is a train wreck and RT is not much better in pass pro. They are multiple years away from having a good OL.
