Found some old ticket stubs, an old picture of a spring game (about 1972-74), and a post card from 1981. A number of old newspapers with headlines of 1981 National Championship, from Charlotte, Charleston, Columbia and Greenville. I must of sat in the middle of the floor looking and remembering for an hour or more. Thought some of you old timers might enjoy a memory or two.

Yep, same design and same price from '72-'74, with a whopping one dollar increase in '75. I've got a stub from the 1976 UGA-Clemson game, which was also $8.00 but with a different design. Good stuff!

You should frame the old tickets similar to how they are in the picture. It makes a great talking piece. I framed some of my Dad's old scorecards from Cubs games in the early 60's.

Prices for tickets then were what seems like dirt cheap compared to now. But in 1972 I worked as a teenager in a local grocery store for $1.00/hour. And in 1976 I went to work for Michelin Tire for $3.75/hour. My point is prices are relative to wages.

You’re bad at math then. For 2 hours of your labor at a factory you could buy a ticket in the 70s. You can maybe park 1.5 miles from the stadium today for 2 hours of your labor at a factory. A ticket to a game is more than a full days labor at a factory, if not 2 days.

Paper tickets… those were the days. Not to knock the older crowd but if it has been for them like it has been for a few in our family the ticketing process is very difficult imo. Scrambling to transfer tickets last minute for whatever reasons aggravated the heck out of me?

It is crazy what television did for college football. I was there in the days that kids could get in for nothing and then in high school it went up to the ridiculous price of 50 cents (2 gallons of gas). If one of the high school coaches was at the West End gate, you could get in free because their fiends were working the gate.
We can credit Charley Pell for bringing big time football, and Danny Ford, to Clemson which brought us to the Championship and huge crowds in 81. Television money paid the way so trash ESPN all you want but we would not be where we are without television.

Don’t worry I have worked in the Catv business and it’s not thanking ESPN it should be thanking yourself. ESPN and all its other family of channels is what is driving your cable tv/ or satellite service up. In the end we pay twice. In person when you attend the games and when we are at home watching on tv. They have us over a barrel.

Im obviously a little bit younger than some on here. Will be 48 tomorrow and not that enthused about it honestly. Better than being 6 feet under I guess but do I remember going down to the bigger games and thinking $25 was crazy. I could go down right before games when I would decide last minute to go watch a game and get them from people for $15. This was the 90’s though and we were not very good.

I went to 8 games that season. It felt like 8 years. Awful team with a supposedly solid retuning cast

Had WEZ seats when the WEZ was just bleachers. I remember being excited about seeing Bennie Cunningham playing. I also remember getting a yummy cheeseburger at the Hardee's across the street.
