That's something you should really figure out for

yourself. Some of the best job just aren't for some people. The best advice that I can give you is to not declare a major just for the sake of declaring one. Don't get into a bunch of classes that you don't need later. It's perfectly ok to be undeclared until you know for sure. I started out as a Computer Science major at FMU and undeclared my first semester (thank goodness). I went undeclared until my junior year at which time I declared Mass Communications. That sucked as well and I ended up in the Business deparment and got my BBA in MIS.
I watched so many people struggling to catch up with course work because they took things early that they didn't need. I also saw and still see many people who continue with a career they hate because they picked a major and never had enough courage pr patience to change it.

If you ever want to know what a career in CE is really like, feel free to t-mail me.
I completely concur with CU@TFL comments. Figure out what you might want to do with your life and go for it, but don't rush for the sake of picking a major.
Looking back, I wouldn't change the way I managed my 33 year career to date. If I had to do it all again, I would do it almost the same exact way. That said, I have run into many miserable engineers who hate what they do.
One thing I will say about engineering. It can open many doors for you careerwise that are outside of the traditional design/manufacturing engineering fields. It certainly did for me.

in Hendrix, they have a test that can help you find what you like to do, and it's pretty accurate. You'll be able to take that test once you are enrolled here.

Let me piggy back on this. Audit some courses. Drive them around the block and kick the tires. See what feels good.

It depends

on how smart you are AND how hard you're willing to work.
If you have better-than-average intelligence, if math comes easy to you, and if you're willing to dedicate yourself for 4 or 5 years of study, then engineering is a good way to go. If you also want to throw enjoying college life into the mix, then econ might be a better option. On average, beginning salary for an engineer should be higher than econ. But if you're a people person with good relationship networking skills, it's very possible to do as good or better financially in the long run with an econ degree versus engineering. That's 2 cents worth from an engineer with 20+ years of experience.
