least favorite city in the Union?

I just got back from Chicago. Man, I really hate that place. I think I'm still holding a grudge from my 2 year stint there building a facility, so I go in just negative AF. But that city and whole state just sucksass.
EVERYTHING is just an absolute PITA to do. I blame it all on the unions.
But again, when someone puts a dead rat on the hood of your truck, you might be a little biased in your position of fuckunions.
So my answer is Chicago. Eff that place right in the beewhole. I wouldn't care if that place rotted on the vine.
I think if I spent more time in Philly, it'd be Philly, but luckily I haven't. I just despise everything about that city cept for the Bell.
Newark is up there too, place is an absolute ########. But I've only ever passed through there, flown in/out. Never again though.

but after spending so much time in Chicago and some of the NE cities, it's really not THAT bad.
it's the armpit of the south though, agreed there.

Rush's. And I'm not trying to downplay just how big of an asset that is, either.

Probably unpopular, but I'll throw Charleston in the mix.

The one in SC.
Smelly, dirty, overpopulated, expensive, dirty water ocean nearby.

Then again, I'm a Gulf coast guy like yourself.
Cincinatti has always struck me as a shitthole, but I've only spent a couple of days at a time there. I know people who have lived there and liked it. Birmingham, Al is awful, don't have nice things to say about Toledo, Ohio either.

Yeah I'm out on the surrounding areas too. F that whole place.

Cincinnati (suburbs at least, well some of them) can be a GREAT place to raise a family. That said, it's too GD cold there.
Birmingham can be ok too, at least in certain suburbs.
As for Toledo, we may have the actual winner here. That place is an absolute Fing dump or it was 20 yrs ago last time I was there. I can't imagine there has been some resurgance to make that place inhabitable but who knows.

For me, it is probably Los Angeles. Dirty, strung out homeless everywhere, horrible traffic, boring business district, etc. I haven't spent much time outside LA's downtown core though.

until I built a massive industrial facility there. I was basically stuck there for 2.5 years, I have a disdain for that place that knows no bounds.
I don't even want to fly over the state of IL.
and yes, LA is miserable. spent maybe a year and some change there, but I can manage it given the weather.

Barbara. That drive up the coast, combined with a town that was a small step away from seaside paradise, showed me why (really rich) people like it there.
My NoCal experience is limited to San Francisco, which I actually really like. My last trip there was just before the homeless problem exploded, so YMMV.

I took Rock Hill All Stars to play in the Dixie Youth baseball tournament maybe 5 or 6 times back in the day. A full weekend in Union for ANY reason is like a judicial sentence. Pizza Hut is about the only place to eat, so we would go way out of the way to take the kids to The Beacon rather than take a chance on a local joint.
And it's still better than being in Columbia.

Where vendors, contractors and consultants supplement your own personal abuse of expense card with additional free perks of nice restaurants, blues and jazz clubs, Cub games or Bulls games. Stay downtown at nice hotel and ensure no activities before 10am the next morning.

I loved Chicago when I was up there. Great music, the people were cool, beautiful city, not hot AF in the summer, and the best 'junk' food in the world.
Sounds like you just hated your job.

Absolutely zero redeeming qualities. At least downtown Detroit is walkable and for 99% most part clean. Baltimore is neither.
